Ca-Yello needs to fight all rivals and stop cherry picking. His legacy will always have a big asterisk next to much of it- the creation of "Canelo weight division", where he drained fighters, beating up on smaller guys coming up, rehydrating 20 lbs or more after the weigh in, picking on old warriors like Mosley and Cotto, beating on British bums, going up hopping around in weight to avoid credible guys in his own division, fighting drunk ass potato vodka Kovalev, The clenbuterol, the picking and choosing, trying to wait GGG out til he thought he was too old, then running from him in their 1st fight. The asswhipping from Mayweather, running from Benavidez and Zurdo, the Andrade "horrible fighter" excuses, the "won't fight Mexican" excuse(when he already fought Many Mexicans b4), the Bivol asswhipping aka the sour cherry pick from hell(that came from Running from Benavidez), etc

Fair enough, but that's not what he's talking about. Whether he beats Bivol and Beterbiev, Canelo doesn't want to fight him...because he's a paisano.

This is not hate but it's a sensible analysis. If Canelo loses to a Mexican, especially a good-looking one, he is immediately replaced as the darling of the sport. So the whole risk/reward thing is far worse v a Mexican.

What are you talking about. Barrera v Morales was on HBO Boxing After Dark - it wasn’t some greatly anticipated massive showcase for the network at the time, but it BECAME one of the greatest trilogies in the history of the sport because the effort those two men gave. Who knows what might happen in a Canelo v Ramirez showdown. It certainly has the makings of one for the ages, but we’ll never know unless they actually fight.
I don’t understand the off putting cynicism on your part. Maybe you just don’t like good fights?

Some serious ego--centric reasoning ... taken way to far .... but really, who's surprised? Also, he doesn't want another Mexican to become the sport's cash-cow ... over him. In the only fight where he was the 'B' side (Mayweather) he lost .... didn't have ALL of the judges favor (actually, for real fight fans he was the 'B' side vs Bivol the champion - he lost that one too).

I think Ramirez beats him in any case .... but I doubt he ever will take that fight.
Same is true for fighting Benavidez. He can lose to ANYONE else and still be the #1 attraction because his fan base rides hard for him. But if he loses to either of those two...he's no longer the Alpha. I doubt he ever fights either one.

It amazes me that everyone has their fooken hand out to Canelo. “Make your own money”. Canelo did it. Mayweather did it. Quit fooken begging. Fight TOP guys and make your own brand. Boxings gone to sheeit. This new generation are a bunch of mama’s boys. Same for their fans. Nobody wants to earn nothing. Embarrassing. Eastern Europeans are taking over cause everyone is soft and lazy.

its a bit like the khan brook situation where khan was happy to lose to anyone other than brook because he couldnt bare to lose to his countryman. canelo has fought plenty of mexicans before but he wont fight any mexican that would kick his arse

I’m not talking about the anticipation of the fight leading into it, I’m talking about the quality of the 3 fights when it came to the combination of boxing, brawling, excitement and passion to want to hurt the other man. Neither Canelo nor Ramírez put forth those kinds of fights and if they fought each other, it wouldn’t hold a candle to what Barrera and morales did in the ring. I don’t judge fights based on fan boy interest, I judge them based on what the fighters actually did in the ring.

I hear you, but they fight the fights for a reason… you never know what will happen. In this case you have a guy teetering on All Time Great status who just might be slipping just enough that the bigger, possibly hungrier Ramirez might be in the right place at the right time. Also, both being Mexican sounds like a great recipe for a memorable night. If you “judge fighters on what they do in the ring”, why not reserve judgment until these two actually fight?

If Canelo was a natural in Ramirez weight then he'd jump into it but Canelo has his own plans for his career just like any other person. Canelo should just stay near his weight and reign but he likes challenging and testing himself to be better and give fans great fights. Canelo also said people want to see him bruised beat up and he's not going to do that. He said he has to take care of his health and avoid getting injured. Very wise fighter in my opinion.
