No, he didn't "cherry-pick" primed Oldtiz, WBC and Haymon did it for him.
Interesting that 4 PBC guys are fighting in 2 eliminators for that belt. What a coincidence, huh?

I'll agree, he obviously looked bad fighting Martin, but Martin looked at the top of his game and Ortiz wasn't seriously hurt even though he was floored twice. His legs and balance looked bad, but the heart and determination sure were there. And so was the power. He put Martin in the twilight zone. This was a standing KO if I ever saw one. Martin looked like he was fighting one minute,...and filling out his tax return the next. Ortiz is strong and smart and...left-handed. Andy will have to be very careful. The right hooks and uppercuts Ortiz was throwing in the workouts had bad intentions written all over them and Andy likes to crouch and duck. He'll have to figure out the safest moments to come in and keep Ortiz turning to mess with his balance because he definitely doesn't want to just wade into those guns. If Ortiz has done his leg-work this could be a great fight, and a hard one to pick.

            Not a cherry??
A guy who's so slow & old, his leg's so gone he fall's over from Martin jabs, that's a cherry. Ortiz top 10??no where near in my book, wherever Martin sits now he should be 1 place above him. He's shot.

Well you did try to get out of the fight, tried to go back on a signed contract but wasn't allowed to. Kinda hard to hype up how eager you are to face him after that.

He's had a fine career, Andy.

But, I'll never forget how he didn't train for Joshua rematch, ate his way to over 280 lbs, and walked around doing nothing for 12 rounds, giving his titles back.

Parker says Ruiz hits the hardest out of any HW he has ever faced (including AJ). Whatever Ruiz is - he is no Martin
