Fun match up. The issues is if Ortiz wins he is an old fighter so what longevity he still has. If Ruiz wins he has been plagued with no motivation to train.

After this fight they might be a name in some resume with some risk or they continued to be recycled in their promotional company.

I won't know what to say about Ruiz Jr if he doesn't make this look easy. Ruiz is still relatively young, but this seems like a bit of a crossroads fight for him. If he looks bad or, God forbid, loses to a 50 yr old fighter on his way out he moves so far back in line that he might just retire.

Okay truth is Ruiz is not always disciplined and he finds excuses. Whether he had knee surgery in Mexico is questionable or was it an excuse because he added weight after the Arreola fight? Now he is saying genetics. He doesn't need to look chiseled and only needs to train to his peak. At 32 years of age he should know his body.

He knows it was a mistake to leave Robles. Just like Joshua where Hearn makes excuses for Joshua you have Ruiz where his father makes excuses for him.

He does show a fighters heart in the ring and has skills that allow him to compete with any heavyweight when he prepares.

Andy says, he doesn't like to run. You can see, by his shape, he doesn't like to run. The best plan to beat him now, is to out run him. Parker sprinted to the finish and AJ left him in the dust. Andy is a fighter, of sorts, but slow feet is a bad defect. He's less of a boxer for it.

It's hard to get and stay thin when you were raised as a fat kid. Your body gets chemically addicted to certain foods, so, yes, it takes an enormous amount of will and discipline to change that. It's pretty easy to disparage and dismiss Andy's work ethic based on his body, but, like him or not, he's an elite athlete who has worked harder than most people on this site.

Ruiz's only determination is to finish another taco

He's coming in 'super fleshy' no doubt

He'll beat Ortiz. Too much speed for the old man

Corelone, we all know he can still work his legs without running. My trainer, Don House, was a huge believer in water work, swimming. He always said it was like snow skiing, you use muscles that your body isn’t accustomed to using, therefore it leads to definition and tone. Now I don’t expect Andy to get toned, but there are other things than roadwork that can get his legs in shape. He needs to quit eating those damn snickers bars in the locker room…that’s a great start!
