Looks like a very good fighter, hopefully we get a unification at 160 before long as it's been a while, division feels like a bit of a wasteland.

        I just don’t get it
How can they just award a belt without ordering a fight for the belt
At least two guys fight , even if most likely would be a mismatch

Fighting is pointless. The boxing organizations should just award belts to whoever they think would win it in an actual boxing match. That way nobody gets hurt or bruised, and their boxing careers can continue into old age. They should pass on making real fights because mythical matchups and email championship belts are the wave of the future.

Seriously though, I don’t know how proud a fighter could be just from having a belt donated to them. I’d think that Janiibek must be feeling at least a little incomplete without having had to defeat a worthy opponent. I mean, the conquering of the opponent is where the glory and jubilation is earned.

For those complaining about WBO gifting Janibek the belt...both parties aren't at fault. WBO made an interim title fight because of Andrade's injury and indecisiveness on what weight he wanted to campaign. Janibek fought Danny Dignum because Munguia did not respond to the interim deadline in time. He got upgraded to full champion because Andrade officially stated he's moving to 168.

People have been complaining about all the bull**** that's been happening at 160lb for a long time, but now the division has truly imploded and hopefully something new can begin to grow.

Ken Norton was the WBC champion in 78' when he won an eliminator and then was bumped up when Leon Spinks signed to fight Ali in a rematch instead of him. Lennox Lewis won an eliminator against Ruddock and then was bumped up when Bowe refused to fight Lewis. This is nothing new and the WBO didn't event this situation.
