Prime Larry Holmes Cleans Today's HW Division

Most people only remember Larry Holmes as the washed up 38 year old Tyson beat. In his prime, Larry was a killer and would absolutely annihilate every HW today, bar NONE. If people are hailing Usyk as a genius (he is), then what's Larry Holmes with that pinpoint laser jab of his and footwork? He would positively cut up every fighter today with their boring static, non-fluid style and stop most, if not, all of of them.

I could see that, guy could box his ass off in his prime, but he himself was beat by a guy moving up twice so that has to be looked at as well

that "guy moving up" you're referring to is Michael Spinks, who without a doubt ***s AJ's world all the way up as well. And Holmes won that 2nd fight. First one is debatable.

No ****. On his good days he was one of the best h2h HWs ever imo. I think Fury and Usyk would be the only serious challenges for him.

Holmes admitted to ducking southpaws in the professional ranks because he was stopped twice by Nick Wells, a southpaw, in the amateurs.

There is nothing to suggest he could do better than modern world champion cruiserweights like Haye, Cunningham, Adamek, etc. who hit a wall once they came across the best super-heavyweights.

His power was nothing special in his own era against smaller HWs, so this idea he would be some KO machine against the big boys of today is deluded.

The main reason i think Holmes and Ali wouldn't succeed in the post lennox era, especially with Fury around, is due to their styles, they were outboxers and like to stay out of range and use their longer reaches, good luck doing that to someone who can hit you from the other side of the ring.

We cant just compare him to Usyk who fights in a completely different style and say since usyk done so will holmes.

They'd succumb to the 1 2 hold like many other men their size.
