My notes on last night's card

Quite honestly it was a damn good night of boxing last night, and the undercards I found to ve very enjoyable.

Especially Katsidis/Escobedo. Nice to see Katsidis back on the horse after seemingly having his career halted in it's tracks against Casamayor and Diaz, and last night he was in straight up "beast mode" against Escobedo. This one got my nod for most entertaining bout of the night.

John/Juarez bored me to tears, just like their first fight did. It was pretty much a carbon copy of the first one and everytime I feel like I want to cheer for Juarez, he always gives me a reason not to ; namely by never doing nearly enough no matter who his opponet is. Props to Rocky for turning it on late but it was too little, too late by then. Chris John is one I'm keeping my eye on.

As for Floyd/Marquez ; it was expected, to say the least. Granted I still picked my boy to pull off the upset but it was apparent to even I after the 1st round that he wasn't going to do **** to Floyd. Floyd was just too big, too strong, and too fast.

The weight definitely effected Marquez a bit and I don't see how even Floyd's strongest supporters could claim otherwise. He literally went from being a guy who is always fast and crisp with his punches to being a walking zombie at times ala' Oscar in the Pacquiao fight.

Credit to Floyd for being in supreme shape for this one. If there's one thing last night reaffirmed for me was my previously held belief that Floyd ****s Cotto and Pacquiao however he wants ; Manny in particular.

Manny's defense is piss poor and even as highly skilled as he is defensively ; Marquez was still picked apart at will all night long by Mayweather.

I've always been positive Floyd stops Manny but last night made me 200% confident, if that's even possible.

Still love and respect my boy Marquez for stepping it up and testing himself against the best regardles of weight ; I'm proud as hell of him for even making it to the final bell when he was clearly breathing through his mouth from the 4th onward and was getting bombed on all night.

I thought as a whole the card itself was highly entertaining and I'm hoping it put up strong numbers.

    Bring on Floyd/Mosley or Floyd/Manny.

When I bring up how pavlik looked like a walking zombie in the Hopkins fight, because of the added weight... you bring up that it was because he was fighting a masterful boxer like bernard.

good **** bringer, I think we're pretty much on the same page.

See the thread I just made about it and tell me what you think.

JMM has more respect from me now than he did before, the man took on a Herculean task and came up short.

Oh well, thats more than we'll ever be able to say for Floyd.

Much respect to your boy Marquez but I don't think he could beat Floyd at any weight...

But at a lower weight it would not have been 11 rounds to 1...

Way too different Reed. Pavlik is a HUGE M.W, HUGE!. He faught Taylor at a catch weight of 166, there was nothing different about Pavlik, more to do with Taylor doing alot better in the rematch. The extra 4 lbs couldn't have made that difference, dominating performance by B-Hop. Where as, Marquez's punches weren't as affective, wasn't quick on his feet. MAJOR difference Reed.

Who's fault was it for fighting Bernard, anyway? Sure as hell wasn't Hopkins "luring Kelly up".

Aside from that ; do you think Kelly would be competitive with bernard at any weight?

Because I think Marquez would've done better than losing all 12 rounds had the fight been at 130 or 135 ; he may have won 2 or 3 at best still, but he would've at least looked better.

Regardless ; this isn't a Bernard thread, so let's not make it one ; take it to PM.

Like I told K-Nan ; I'm glad to see Floyd back, I really am ; he brings in a lot of casual fans and it's nice to see he's still ontop of his game, and in the end, like it or not ; that helps boxing's numbers.

I'm just disappointed that the lamb to slaughter had to be a fighter like Marquez whom I admire so much. But it's Sunday night and I still love and admire JMM just as much as I did this time last night when he was arriving at the arena.

            I'll peep that thread now.

Im not saying the added weight didnt effect Marquez it definitely did.

My point was, it also had to do with the skilled fighter across the ring Marquez was fighting.

                  That's all I'm saying.

And I'm not even discrediting Floyd for this ; I give his skills full credit and I'm glad to have him back.

He'd beat my boy at any weight in the world, and I know that.

I'm just saying Marquez would've looked a little better at an easier weight for him.

Granted he'd still lose, but he maybe would've won a round or two instead of getting his ass beat all 12.

Glad to see Marquez getting a little love around here, still ; I figured everybody would be ****ting on him and saying he was a loser...
