All the AJ opponents you mention here are arguably as good as, if no better than, anybody Wilder fought during his 10 fight WBC title reign, apart from Fury. And Fury only got a shot at Wilder because they thought he was done.
And let's not forget that AJ fought Ruiz after Ortiz, Wilder's best win, turned down a career high offer from him. Give the lad some credit.Last edited by kafkod; 08-24-2022, 02:21 PM.Comment

Props for taking the rematch I guess? Lost all props for his behaviour after the fight.
So. Fighters vacate belts for mandatories all the time. He also took the immediate rematch against Usyk, when many would have not. I agree with Ruiz but **** happens.
LOL Your words not mine bro, there better names than Stiverne and Spilka and Schwartz for sure tho, you can take that to the bank.Comment

Not really excuses, just what happened bro.
Excuses, excuses, excuses. Joshua reigned for 5 years on and off and the fights we wanted never happened.
There were 3 top HW’s we wanted to see fight since 2015/16. Fury, Wilder and Joshua. 2 of them fought each other 3 times. The other fought neither. Whichever way you wanna spin it, that shows who the problem was.
They lost to Ruiz who was 33/1 underdog and Usyk who they thought was too small. Fury has taken far bigger risks than AJ he went to Germany to fight Klitschko and America to fight Wilder 3 times. AJ has NEVER been in the away corner, he’s always been the house fighter.
I hear you but Fury and Wilder needed each other at the time as their resumes stank and their teams effectively blacklisted Joshua purely down to it seems their hatred of Eddie Hearn.
Let’s be real now, Wilder’s team only initially took the Fury fight because he was massively overweight and they thought he was going to be light work, after finessing fury of the victory they stumbled onto a lucrative set of rematches. But it is what it is.
Fury defo deserves credit for his victories, but he statpads too much and as of this year has only made 2 world title defences in his career read into that what you will. He also ducked the Wlad rematch and then got popped for PEDs which again doesn’t look great. Never bought the whole depression narrative the timelines are too convenient.
I agree about AJ not being in the away corner, to be fair to him tho, when you’re making double digit millions after 18 fights and giving guys record paydays why should you have to travel?
I also agree Ruiz was meant to be easy work, but no boxing fan was calling Usyk too small and/or an easy touch, only AJ fanboys and casuals were saying that. He was always going to be a nightmare for Joshua stylistically, just like he will be for Fury, difference being Fury has the ring IQ and the inside game to get the job done.

Ta, yes, and hopefully you and yours are and all. That last part of your post were mint. Spot on. Case in point the failure to sign any meaningful olympic or amateur stats. Edward wants to sign only fighters who are already stars. The reasoning is of course to sell dazn subscriptions
I think he knows this game too well. He rides the waves he knows there’s highs and lows but he’s always patient and playing the long game. It’s certainly paid off.
I always said Matchroom are a company that sacrifices long terms goals for short terms gains. Anywhere for a pound note.
hope your well btw.Comment

“If they were milking Joshua he wouldn’t have 3 losses”
That’s just not true bro, they tried repeatedly to make the undisputed fight, but Haymon wouldn’t let Wilder of the leash unfortunately, let’s not forget the two fight 100m DAZN deal, Wilder wasn’t allowed to accept, this was when AJ and Wilder both had the belts, along with the previous offers Shelly Finkle confirmed they’d received.
If they were trying to milk the cow Joshua wouldn’t have 3 defeats on his resume after 27 fights, they could have easily statpadded fighting the Wallins, Spilkas, Stivernes of this world (which would have all done well with AJ at the time in the UK on PPV)
Trying to deal with Fury must be a nightmare in itself I suspect, something Usyk and his team will probably find out in due course unfortunately (I truly hope I’m wrong)
Let’s not rewrite history, Matchroom are far from perfect but they’ve taken by far the most risks certainly at heavyweight and it’s not even up for debate.
Explain that one for us all.

So fury coming back after 3 years out had 7 months active and went straight back in with the most dangerous heavyweight of an era and a heavyweight AJ and Eddie did everything To avoid.

Joshua has taken more risks by fighting a andy ruiz and a Cruiserweight? You spin doctors aren’t even decent at your job.
why was Joseph Parker worth 33.5% of the pie but wilder was only allowed 12 Mill?
Wilder sold out arenas in America. Parker had sold out in New Zealand which is easy to do. So you tell me why did Eddie feel fine to pay Parker but wouldn’t pay wilder?Last edited by RoadMan94; 08-25-2022, 04:22 AM.Comment
