  • Punch stats Hrgovic vs Zhang

    Jabs landed 40 5
    Jabs thrown 327 88
    Power landed 168 149
Here are the punch stats. Hrgovic out jabbed and out landed Zhang . The haters are out in full in full force, but of you score the fight round by round you will come up with the right winner. Zhang showed good defense and power, and fought an off focus Hrgovic who didn't show up for any pre-fight stuff. Something was bothering him. Maybe Zhang's southpaw style. The knock down was a cuffing blow behind the head / combination push down. Not chin or balance related.

It wasn't a robbery, very close fight and if Zhang had more in the tank he probably could've got the stoppage.

Hrgovic isn't the boogeyman some portrayed him as though, he's showing similar weaknesses to those he showed in the Joyce fight years ago; doesn't handle pressure well, can't fight as well going backwards, lack of defence, gases early, add to that he seemed to lose concentration/focus/belief throughout the fight.

There were things he needed to work on after Joyce that he still needs to address and last night showed a few more things he needs to improve.

Agreed. Watched the fight and wasn't a robbery. It was a solid comeback from the Croat.

Hrgovic won that fight, but holy crap did he look bad. Looked like a Croatian Charles Martin every time he took a big shot and started to forget he was in a fight.

After watching that performance, his little rival Alen Babic could actually have a chance. He really didn't do that great against pressure.

Zhang hurt the Croat every time he landed tho.

Bit Hrgovic obviously took all that shots pretty well and recovered each time.

Agreed. Zhang could probably beat a few guys in the top 10, he was underrated. I would not cool off on Hrgovic being the next champion though because he passed a tough test

Fury was down twice and likely lost a fight on the way up, and Wilder was down vs a bum and struggled vs mediocre competition.

Zhang keep his guard high and had a southpaw style plus under rated had speed and obviously quite a bit of power. You don't get that many 1st round KO for nothing.

Hrgovic faced a test vs a good fighter. He wasn't focused and acted strange in the ring, but he passed the test and will be better next time.

That's what a good chin when matched vs a power puncher does. Zhang had good skill too and Hrgovic wasn't close to going down on any of the shots where Zhang really connected, only the cuffing blow behind the head which was a push down scored a knockdown.

doesn't matter. visible damage counts. Hrg looked visibly damaged much more than Zhang did + KD.

This right here. I didn't think Hrgovic won by robbery but there's a good reason so many felt Zhang won.
