  • I don't think Joshua looked much better than the first fight TBH.

He was pot shoting all night and looked totally lost and confused while Usyk buzzed around him.

Any top HW with fast hands and feet is krytonite for the Nigerian Robot.

Usyk. And he didn't have a ten minute Oliver McCall moment in the ring.
100% Right. Usyk has been living with the fact his home and family is in a total war zone.

Whereas Joshua's only mental challenge is having to stay humble and remember what his massa Eddie tells him to say when the camera is on.

Yeah? Personally had it 8-4, but some rounds were close; not really furious at 7-5

Tbh, maybe I’ve given him close rounds because I’ve been impressed with his general work instead of just looking at how many punches both have landed, so gonna watch it back

No it was mostly a replay of the first fight with Joshua fighting desperate and dirty after he tried to box Uysk and failed again to land any decent punches. He did cut the ring off in the ninth and had a good round but Usyk came back in the 10th and took anything Joshua had away from him. That was Joshua's chance to get in a brawl but he just doesn't have it in him and was happy to go the 12 rounds.

A not so heavy and in shape Ruiz would pound Joshua down like in their first fight if he can get inside. Ruiz hits harder than Usyk too and he can throw combos.

          • I told you!

I hit the sack the second i heard the 3rd & correct card & i was going to compliment AJ's effort.

Just woke up & can't believe what I'm reading. So I'll double up

But then it was just like Joshua tried to outbox Usyk again and here he lost the fight. Or I could just say that Usyk`s skills prevailed.

Usyk also seemed to be badly hurt in 9th rounds, but his recovering abilities are good also.

SD result is bizzare, Usyk clearly won the fight in championship rounds.
Nail on with these comments, particularly the highlighted bit. Been saying since the last fight that AJ’s first fight looked like that from being left bewildered.

Now that we’ve seen him come out with a game plan, and still revert to that, everyone ought to recognise that it was more Usyk forcing tactical errors rather than a well-thought out choice on AJ’s part to “box”

All that’s happened is that Usyk’s reaction times are superior, and Joshua was trying to overcompensate by having his lead hand further out, and not committing to the jab so as to be ready to tag him. Obviously not gonna work, but this is what Usyk and Lomachenko do to you.

These ‘shot, old men’ have been mostly mandatories, which says more about the state of boxing, and especially the way the orgs determine their rankings, than how well promoters can manage their stable

Am I wrong? Why don’t you put me right then? You can’t. That’s why. If I take some words from the leader of the KKK then read it aloud at an all white rally, can I say I aren’t racist because I read someone else’s words?

                    • Really intense, quality fight. Usyk deserved to get the nod. The rounds were really competitive, close, but Usyk’s skills was nicking the rounds for him, I think winning by 4 and 2 rounds was about right as I could only give AJ 5 rounds max. I thought Usyk was about to implode after the 9th onward but he come out in the 10th, had his best round and took the wind/momentum out of AJ’s sails.

The rant at the end from AJ is a bit embarrassing, but hey, he lost the legacy defining fight of his career and the reality has set in that becoming the eras best heavyweight isn’t going happen. It’s understandable that he has reacted, after the standards he’s set himself. He’s always fought the best available opponent and has ducked no one, but there are plenty of great fights out there for him, he should have learned a lot from this fight and can use that experience gained to further his career. Hopefully he can be more active and without the belts on the line can fight anyone he wants. Wilder anyone? His tactics were good and the team of Garcia/Fernandez works well it seems and can only improve him over time.

Usyk, class act as ever, the worlds his oyster and him and Fury have to get it on. Who’s the top dog of this era? I can’t wait to find out!!!
