  • Comments Thread For: Loeffler on Canelo's Animosity Toward Golovkin: He Should Be Happy That Triple G Fought Him

Tom Loeffler thinks Canelo Alvarez's anger toward his star charge is a bit misguided. Loeffler, the longtime handler of Gennadiy Golovkin, said in a recent interview that he was a bit befuddled by Alvarez's aggressive rhetoric against the Kazakh puncher.

Tom Brown: We Offered Canelo $45M For Charlo; $55M For Spence At 164 Or Benavidez At 168

The first two fights of Canelo Alvarez’s three-fight reunion with DAZN and Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing were revealed earlier this year.

If the Mexican icon defeats Dmitry Bivol on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Alvarez will move back down from the 175-pound division to the 168-pound limit for his long-awaited third showdown with rival Gennadiy Golovkin on September 17 at a venue to be determined. A third pay-per-view fight against an unknown opponent would conclude DAZN’s new agreement with Alvarez.

What hasn’t been revealed until now is that the exact offer from Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime that Alvarez turned down to accept DAZN’s deal included the option of a pay-per-view fight against undefeated welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. Tom Brown – whose company, TGB Promotions, represents Spence and Jermall Charlo – informed BoxingScene.com that PBC offered Alvarez a $45 million guarantee to fight Jermall Charlo on Saturday night and, if he would’ve conquered Charlo, a $55 million guarantee to fight either Spence at a catch weight of 164 pounds or David Benavidez at the 168-pound limit.

Yeah, I guess Canelo should be happy! He didn't have many options! Lol!

I like both fighters but I hope this PPV flops hard. Hopefully these types of fights reset the boxing market and it will make the networks realize that these fighters are not worth $20+ million a fight.

For some odd reason DAZN has had a hard on trying to make this trilogy fight for the simple fact they think they can recoup a lot of the $$ they lost. This rubbermatch is being shoved down our throats

Reasons Ggg is mad at Canelo =
~Canelo jumped the Wbc line to fight Cotto when ggg was the mandatory and then after winning, proceeded to go back on his word by dropping the title instead of facing ggg while facing much lesser opposition.
~ When canelo finally stopped avoiding Ggg, he clearly received help from the judges during their first 2 fights to avoid a loss.
~Canelo got caught cheating leading into their agreed upon rematch.
~Canelo consistently downplayed a Ggg trilogy match by pretending that he closed the chapter on the rivalry after a controversial win and avoided him for another 4 years, now that ggg is 40.

Canelos reasons for being mad at ggg=
        ~He called me a cheater.

Reasons GGG is mad at Canelo:

Got outboxed in the first fight.
          Got outbrawled in the rematch.
          Missing 2000 punches in total.
Rotten pumpkin face after the rematch.
Pissing blood at least for a week.
1 draw and 1 loss on his record.
Begging DAZN since 2019 for payday.

Reasons Canelo is mad at GGG:

Pretending nice guy in front of cams.
Talking shıt behind his back like a girl.
          His idiotic, moron, imbecile fans.

I don’t think Canelo really cared to do this fight. He don’t like G. He doesn’t want to help him get money. G is looking old. I don’t care to see him get hurt & I think Canelo is going to be mean in there.

Canelo won the second fight fair and square even if others and Teddy Atlas think otherwise.

The first fight yes, you can argue the other way. Golovkin pissed off Canelo more now because he questioned if Canelo used ped's in other fights.

Both top fighters. Golovkin should box intelligently if he wants a chance, not just be aggressive. Canelo, he's obviously got a body attack in mind, a very wise strategy, as GGG seems to get badly affected by those shots.

Loeffler is right. To this day, the Golovkin fights are Canelo's defining career moment. Both fights did over 1M buys. Canelo owes him a lot.
