Yes. What a ****** question.
Are Promoters Even Necessary These Days

That’s a good point. Perhaps the main service they provide the fighter is logistics. TV, venue, contracts, etc. It seems like a lot for 30% or so of the purse, but I guess a fighter can only worry about so much.Comment

I have just looked over this thread again.
I think the thread starter answered their own question, in their own first post.
The media consultant or whoever is just going to take on the roll of the promoter.
That is all that will happen.
Making fights on the street, is different to making fights in the media and business world.
It is not just about, posting a picture on social media and chatting crap.
And going back to what I said, at any given time. Their are only a small percentage of fighters who could if they really wanted to promote themselves.
Alvarez, Joshua, Fury. Still they will be employing, goodness knows how many managers and team members to do this.
Joshua has a whole team behind him.

Unless you have your own social media following with over 1million followers, you need a promoter. You can't do it any other way to get out there. I know it sucks because promoters usually get in the way of the best fights but it is what it is. Boxing has its politics and you can't get around that.Comment

Further Proof why you do indeed need a Good Promoter or at least Manager or Advisor in this Cesspool of a sport. I feel bad for Bey and Farmer, hopefully somebody throw these guys a decent Payday and put them on the Undercard of a fight that is coming up over the next few months let these guys get a respectable Payday.Comment

Floyd and Oscar didnt start their promotional companies until well AFTER Arum had developed them into stars capable of generating enough revenue to facilitate their events. Very few fighters can make that leap. Most of the so-called "promotional companies" some of todays fighters have are nothing more than a vanity banner hanging on the light grid. They will never stage a single event under their own company. They will never sign a single fighter, nor develop any new talent. 99% of fighters need a promotional company and its matchmaker to properly move them. Not to mention it takes about 200 grand to get a fighter to 20-0. Most young fighters dont have that kind of money.Comment
