It does give confidence to fighters when they are fed low level opponents. They begin to think they're indestructible. Benn will find out how it is in the real world when he fights Eubank Jr. I'm not saying Chris is a monster, but the guy knows how to win and play with guys like Benn.

Maybe you don't realise just how big this fight is. EVERYBODY knows the dads and the sons because of that. It is HUGE.

We would all do the same if we believed we would win - or at least come out without too much damage.

The only reason it's a surprise is because of the huge weight difference.
I'm going to knock him because he's going into a "super fight" without having accomplished anything in his respective weight class. Like I said cash grab. If he was serious he would've jumped up to 160 and fought Eubank at middleweight considering he walks around at 180 instead he's draining a 168 lber who probably struggles to make 160 in the first place.

At the end you basically are admitting that Benn is not in in for legacy just for money, because if he loses he will have the built in excuse that he is a welterweight. I'm familiar with how big the fight is I clearly mentioned that the only reason this is happening is because of their fathers history.

        Oh...OK?

This is a Cash Grab between Sons of British Legends, nothing more nothing Less, it is not Career Defining, it is not a "Legacy Fight" or any of that nonsense

It would no doubt be a respectable win for Benn to beat the Bigger Guy BUT then people will just say "He Was Drained Down To 157" and if Eubank win "He Was Just Too Big"

A fight I will watch and very much so interested in but some people are really hyping this thing like these guys are on their Fathers Level when neither are anything close to what their Fathers was

”Benn, a welterweight, will move up by nearly two weight divisions to face Eubank at a catch-weight of 157-pounds on October 8 at the O2 in London.“

It’s not “nearly” two weight classes, it IS two weight classes. Literally. 155-160 = Middleweight. Any fight that takes place from 155 to 160 is taking place at Middleweight. Catchweight stipulation or not.

The day athletic commissions change it to, no more, no less than 160, that’s when you can call anything under 160 “nearly” the weight class.

I don't think Eubanks Jr ever had a "prime".

I don't like these catch weights at all. Benn cannot claim to be facing a 100% Eubank Junior.

Interesting on that re-hydration clause, I am not sure? How much weight Eubank Junior puts back on after weigh in's.

He has never really struck me as a fighter who weight drained himself that much, but that was at 168 pounds.

I guess making 160 pounds, was a different story. And that is why this fight announcement was held up.

Everything has been done in this fight, to give Conor Benn the opportunity to win. Eubank Junior is the villain here.

If it was me... I'm going for the big money... And I'm making sure I get whatever advantage I can. I'm surprised he isn't forcing 154 tbh, I would have.

Let's not pretend you wouldn't do the same thing.

He can still go back to 147 for legacy, but this opportunity doesn't come often.

And actually, waaay more risky doing what he's doing. He could legit get hurt out there.

I get that staying at 147 and winning titles is the best thing, I agree, but he wasn't near that anytime soon, the titles are tied up.

                Get that money.

Each fighter will have a built-in and probably legitimate excuse if they lose. But they chose it. I would not advise either fighter going against each other.

Yeah I can agree with that my whole thing is it not being worth the risk. If he loses his career could go in a completely different path and it could end up hurting him more long term. I'm not a Benn hater he does have skills and has that fighter instinct I just feel he should've fought some better names proving himself at 147 first and then after moving up to 154, which seems soon to be, he could do a one off fight at 160 against Eubank. At this point the fight is made so no changing it, I just hope for his sake he doesn't get hurt in there look at what happened to Brook he was never really the same after that Golovkin fight.

Totally agree. It's the choice he's made, maybe a cash out. Maybe he knows something. Good luck to him, some great fights to make at 147 if he can come through.
