I had to tell a village idiot in that Craword/Spence thread earlier today because he spewed Vergil Ortiz's name as a candidate for the cofeature....knowing this is NOT how boxing works- especially when you're talking about purses.

I see if Floyd was the main event...I'm sure they could pony up some cash to have a high profile cofeature on the card like he did for Garcia vs Matthysse on his undercard against Canelo.

It seems as though they had the ride of their lives trying to get the money to make this fight happen...aint no way they can afford to add other guys on the card who are accustomed to walking away with 7 figures.

Thurman/Staonionis DOES make sense as the cofeature but we still have to look at the dollar signs and that's usually the sticking point for most big fights not happening.
Everyone is making Alot of sense. I was actually thinking about Danny vs Matthyse. Adding a big fight as the co-main. I was thinking the ppv numbers could let them easily pay Keith 3 or 4 mill. I think they do close to 700,000 buys. That’s a bigger event then him headlining against anyone else.

They won't waste money on Thurman like that they want to cash in on his name soon not pay him to be on the undercard to beat up a growing prospect

Showtime will likely wants Boots on the undercard vs a tomato can to showcase his skills and gain some exposure

3 or 4 milli is a bit of stretch….Keith would have to headline against a bigger named opponent for that type of money. I honestly believes he’ll shake hands for 1.5M….that’s usually what he gets against top names like Garcia, Porter.

Keith is cool and he puts asses in seats, but he’d need another Manny-type opponent to pull in that $3M especially since he’s yet to truly snapped his streak of inactivity. He fought in Feb and we’ve heard very little from him until this past couple of weeks.

I believe he takes the rest of the year off if he doesn’t accept a fight by October at the latest.
