This is all moot since Benn/Eubank is a thing.

    HOWEVER....

Contracts often precede negotiations when you want to understand the starting points: location, starting offer, any sort of "lock in", etc. Perfectly reasonable to expect to see something up front to know what you're dealing with.

That's how you avoid what's happening with Don King over and over again and what happened with Rahman Jr.

Yeah your right I guess. And it just shows you what a mockery Deontay Wilder made of himself with his 50 mil you tube offer. Joshua was to say he was accepting. No outline of a proposal to negotiate on, no arrangements to have a meeting to discuss a single thing, just, do you accept lol. But that's the way you go about not wanting a fight I suppose, so well done him.

Ok but, if we're going to criticize that example, we need to criticize Crawford for his "60-40 to me or NO FIGHT!" because it's the same thing.

I've not heard if any offers have been made to Thurman, and I'm not prepared to claim they have. But I'll say this. PBC don't do business with Hearn, which he knows, but out of all the PBC connected people, there seems to be one guy who is at least cordial with Hearn and will at least answer him. That's Luis DeCubas. Who happens to be Thurman's manager. Hearn is quite prone to asking what the chances are about making certain fights for his fighters against DeCubas managed fighters. And DeCubas humours him and says he'll run it by Al. But he never gets back with a positive answer. I don't believe there was an offer made to Thurman, but I do believe interest was registered by way of contacting DeCubas. So they know Benn wants that fight. But as with all Hearn fighters, they won't do business with him. That's why their looking for left field options, like Ramirez and now the Eubank fight which has just been made.
PBC has been willing to work with other promotions as long as there are no attachments that lock in one of its fighters. Even though fighters are not signed to PBC, they are loyal to the networks that show PBC fights, which are the networks Hearn does not work with. As in anything else, in order for this to work, both sides have to give up some control and Hearn has shown reluctance with his main fighters. I don't see any reason Thurman vs Benn couldn't happen if a genuine fair offer is made or negotiated for a one fight deal. Thurman has been pretty forth coming on his career, so based on the fact he's asking to see a contract from Benn and Hearn can be taken at face value. Whether Thurmans manager received any communication from Hearn is pure speculation. I'm sure Benn would like to fight Thurman, but its really not up to him. Right now the impediment to this fight is Hearn, we can adjust this outlook once a legitimate offer is made.
