Been a huge fan of DAZN for the value that it was, $100 per year.... then they put in the PPV and no way was I paying for that.... but now, they just announced a price increase from $99 per year to $149 per year. Just cancelled my subscription. Yep.... they went from all fights included to paying $150 to watch b-listers that should be free, and then charger more for PPV.
F DAZN! 50% Subscription Price Increase

my renewal was up in may, realized i bought DAZN like 2 years earlier for Canelo vs GGG when i think it was only $60 a year, that was a good deal at the time, a PPV fight plus a whole year plus I liked the high def fight archives they had.
they already raised the price once but i liked access to the archives. their commentary and shows were ****** and those guys they have barak or whatever dont know **** about boxing.
then they raised the prices yet again but also made canelo vs bivol a full PPV cost, what the *** is even the point then? what am i paying for DAZN then if you going to charge full PPV prices?
So i cancelled that chit and just streamed the fight, *** them. I would pay for it if it was reasonable but as a business they have ***ed it up.Comment

When you devalue your product, you lose customers.

Might as well cancel it and pay for the ppv since that is the route they are going. The content has slowed down so much and the quality of the fights doesn't justify the subscription anymore.Last edited by STREET CLEANER; 08-07-2022, 05:27 AM.Comment

So the price increase makes sense: you gain market share with what’s called a loss-leader…. Get new customers by losing money - selling a product for less than it costs to make it.
But the rate going up when the hallmark fights are now going to PPV is the real head scratcher. What are the subscribers paying for? GPB’s Monthly shows at fantasy springs and Matchrooms UK shows?
That’s kind of a hard ask when the customers were getting all that plus two Canelo PPVs a year for 100 bucks before.Comment

I’d be happier if they increased the subscription to £15 (currently it’s £8 in UK) but stopped with the PPV shows.
We’ve gone from PPV is dead to Benn vs Eubank and a 5am Canelo vs GGG now being PPV worthy.
The schedule has also been paper thin other than the early morning GB cards.
Apparently Matchroom will be realising their upcoming schedule next week. If it’s all next gen and Italy/Spain cards I may well unsubscribe .Comment

Bob Arum said it best: someone is just subsidizing.
Ok, so when you fail to produce strong growth, those backers are eventually going to back out.
In WWE's case you at least have 95% of wrestling footage from the past; but even they were forced to basically sell broadcast rights to "The Cawk" and they actually lost fans over the years, because the quality of programming is garbage, the wrestlers' royalties went down or disappeared, etc.Comment
