Floyd fan here...(well, at least the Floyd in the ring)
I agree, not a legit win really. Nothing to write home about at least, JMM was just too small, hes a natural SFW, he had no business at WW. Hope we dont here Floyd bragging to anyone that will listen about beating JMM.
Prime for Prime at 130 it would have been a great contest!!
But, just to add, I take nothing away from Floyd's ring skills, i honestly dont think there is a fighter alive today (around his weight of course) that can beat him. I just dont see it! Cotto vs Mayweather would look like a repeat of last night, only i see Cotto landing a "little" more and winning the odd round and Pac vs Mayweather would end in a TKO win for Floyd, Pac would be walking onto things all night.
By your logic JMM is a featherweight who last year jumped to lightweight and then yesterday to WW where he fought a fighter who had been at or above that weight for the past 4 years.
Sure this is a legit win.
Nope. It's a grade C win at best.
hey bat...
what about some time ago when hagler beat duran? or when hearns KOed manos de piedra? are these in any way diminished by the fact duran was already relatively old & was fighting higher than 135?
anyone who says otherwise, kindly stfu and gtfo. you people are a joke, it actually makes me feel sick when i come on this forum and see how unwavering the hatred is. I ain't even really a fan of his, but i know when to give the man his props after a comeback performance like that.
Also, those moaning about jmm jumping up in weight, i'm not sure if any of you know anything about boxing but back in the day there wasn't a light welterweight division and countless fighters have made the transition from lightweight to welterweight over the years. Jmm is no different. He didn't look weak or anything at that weight, he was impressive as usual. Floyd is just on another level.
Good day and like i said, haters shut the **** up and get the **** out i don't give a damn about your childish insults and arguements. You the same bunch of people who give us the "yea but tyson vs. Anyone in his 2 year prime..." arguement, and the "yea but if the fight continued vitali would have won on points regardless of the fact his face was hanging off..." arguement. I am embarrassed for all of you.

u consider those wins grade c too?
Big difference Talip. Duran was under 30 when he beat SRL and he had been fighting at welter for some time before facing Leonard.

BS. JMM hasn't made the "transition from Lightweight to Welterweight", he's a lightweight fighting heavier because that's the way to the big names and the big money. I'm certainlly not 'moaning' about it though, that's up to him and I thought he aquitted himself pretty well. I wouldn't argue that Floyd is one of the best two fighters on the planet either, but nonetheless while JMM was still a creditable win Mayweather had the physical advantage and I'll be far more impressed if he can knock over Mosley and the winner of Pacquiao v. Cotto. Pacquiao, incidently, HAS made that transition you are talking about although whether that will carry up to WW remains to be seen. We can only hope it does; Mayweather v. Pacquiao will be one of the biggest fights ever, possibly THE biggest outside HW.
