If he gets his belt Keith Thurman might be enticed into fighting Vergil Ortiz Jr possibly early next year.
Thurman would destroy Ortiz. Ortiz's flat-footed, come forward style is perfect for the movement of Thurman's style. Along with the fact the Virgil uses his face as his defense, he can't do that with the power One Time possesses. Ortiz and Boots would be exciting, as neither have great defensive skills. It would come to who has the most potent offense. I would lean towards Ennis.

You're right as far as his skills, but he possesses pillow fists. While he should outbox Ortiz, he going to have to avoid getting his lights dimmed the entire fight, which could cause him to gas. If that happens, black out.

Spence has no need to avoid Ortiz, he would obliterate him in six rounds. Virgil has zero defense, and Spence is a volume puncher.

If Sandor Martin can do it why not Michael McKinson?

The same guy who has not knocked out anybody for the last six years? the guy that was rocked by Joselito Lopez and Mario Barrios?

I heavily doubt he will be able to win against Ortiz Jr in his current state, even less knock him out.

The reason for no recent KOs is frequent long injury layoffs and the level of his competition. Ortiz has not faced a Danny Garcia, Porter, or Pacquiao. He hasn't really faced anyone notable or close to that level, but continues to take punches in order to throw his own. It would get really bad for him with the skills and experience of Thurman.

I don't agree, he got a little too excited and reckless early on against Manny and got dropped, but the rest of the fight was a good showing, back and forth. If not for the early knock down, he may have pulled it out. That was his last fight., I don't see Ortiz beating that Thurman.

Yeah but that fight was 3 years ago, both fighters were arguably finished then anyway judging by how easy Manny lost his next fight to a fairly average Ugas. And Thurman didn’t exactly set the world alight in his only fight in the last 3 years.
