I can see Shields out boxing Marshall by a wide margin. I hope Marshall learns to cut off the ring, shortening her punches and continues moving her head when she punches. Shields will get hit with some punches no doubt. So we will see how she holds up taking Marshall's power. I hope as she thinks Marshall is underestimating her that she is not underestimating Marshall.

I'm going with Marshall just because she is not such a bigmouth. Whether she can pull off the upset is another matter. Shields has fought tougher opponents.

FACTS: Combined record of Savannah Marshall opponents is 97-114-13. Take out the single worst record among her opponents and the combined record improves marginally to 86-59-9. Combine record of Claressa Shield opponents is 116-16-6. Marshall has a puncher's chance, without a doubt. But Shields' speed is likely to disrupt her game plan and accuracy. And Shields' experience going the distance... her elusiveness will be a challenge for Marshall.

Advantage for Marshall is that she has heavy hands, heavier than probably any opponent Shields has faced. And, if Claressa tries to pursue a knockout as she is suggests, she will have put herself in front of Marshall to leverage the kind of heavy shots that it will take to do damage. That is the window of opportunity Marshall needs to capitalize on. But here is the extra challenge for Marshall: she needs to capitalize on the very first shot. If Claressa gets a taste of her power, count on her to get on the bicycle and school Marshall with speed for a full 12 rounds. That first heavy punch has to count for Marshall.

              ...we'll say it again.

We think Savannah Marshall is about to give Claressa Shields that work.

Remember: Claressa tends to get drawn into wars because of the criticism about being boring.

If she does that...she's getting stopped.

PREDICTION: Claressa won't put her chin out there. She will dominate the full 12 rounds, on her bike whipping Marshall while making herself unreachable. The only way Claressa goes for the knockout is if Marshall drops her hands during the humiliating whipping, which can easily happen amid her frustration. Claressa personally doesn't need the knockout for satisfaction. She will still have a wide grin on her face following a 12-round whipping of Marshall, seeing her helpless to do anything... for a full 12 rounds. If a knockout opportunity comes, she will only take advantage of it if it comes after the 6th or 8th round. No early knockout because for Claressa "teaching a lesson is more punishing than a knockout."

Clearly from her record, Claressa has not been drawn into a war where she lost. Nor has she been drawn into "war-like" situations that have made her vulnerable. Claressa will get a taste of Marshall's power and make a decision. Historically, she has not stayed in the pocket unless she deemed it comfortable to stay in there. If Marshall's power makes it uncomfortable, she will make it a 12-round schooling. This is why the first taste of power that Marshall serves up has to be big, a disorienting shot to the temple that disrupts an opponent's equilibrium... or a liver shot. And Marshall has the heavy hands to pull that off. It will be dangerous for Shields. But she has the resume and the low-knockout record that is testimony to her speed and elusiveness. Shields is experience at dancing away from danger and speed to disrupt everyone's offense... till now. And the competition has been the elite of the division. Marshall just needs to be that good. You can say she is as dangerous as Deontay. You have to think of Claressa as Usyk. Now that's some analogy!!! You can count on one thing: people will be watching this fight. It's big!
