Might just be me, but AJ seems to almost pause and readjust his aim half way through punches. Reminds me of Overeem in the UFC and i think AJ's punch resistance just won't be there even if he gains, speed, agility etc. The man needs to let his hands go, sparr with just a jab until you he can develop the instinct, reflexes to use it well and give himself a chance to be systematic

Why not? He changed his style massively for the Ruiz rematch!

And what he needs to do for his best chance against Usyk is to go back to his old style so it shouldn’t be too alien to him.

I think he might still lose but its his best chance!

Muscle bound dudes are easy to slap up fast.
            Im never intimidated by them.

I saw a few get beat down by guys who weren’t stiff.

I disagree with your on paper part, Fury alway's beats Aj, i believe Wilder touches AJ's chin & he'll drop, read back i alway's believed Usyk had to much movement & iq for Aj.
Take away all the slow old shot 38-41 year olds & Ajs resume is Martin paper belt xD Parker paper belt, Ruiz #15 & Usyk#10, Whyte was ranked 22 when they boxed.
No coincidence the last 2 he boxed of his own generation both beat him.

Joshua is a naturally slender guy, dillian Whyte called him a skinny bodybuilder and he was correct.

Look at some of the other super heavies, Fury, Lennox, Klits, Joyce, all of them are naturally a lot bigger men than AJ, bigger bone structure.

Wlad was a very similar size to AJ and had similar physique (seriously if you rub that brown paint they put on bodybuilders on Wlad he would look like AJ)

But wlad was naturally that size, so he was fluid and could do 12 rounds well. AJ is pumped up at that size which is why he is stiff and gasses.

On the flip side it was part of his marketing appeal to the casual fans that he looked like hercules with big bulging muscles the matchroom fans would love to baby oil up.

He dropped Ruiz and went after him like crazy, it was awesome. Problem is Ruiz took it all and came back to drop AJ. Now AJ is gun shy and fearful. That was one fight though. He needs to hurt Usyk and know that jumping on him is his best chance. He’s the challenger and underdog. Fight like it.
He can lose all the weight he wants, he’s still got those giant feet to pick up and put down. They don’t shrink.
If he’s not willing to try and fight like the bigger man then make a run for cruiserweight lol
                    [/QUOTE]

Yes, but don’t you see? That was the problem in the first place. Ruiz ‘took it all’ because he wasn’t gravely hurt.

Further, AJ ‘went after’ Ruiz while crouched to Ruiz’ height, with his lead hand down, chin open, and head static.

The problem is, and always has been that he doesn’t understand the fundamentals and how to apply them. When to up the pace, when to hang back, how to use a guard, the correct stance, etc, etc.

He’ll never get it now, so maybe he should just go for broke, but he’ll get done in

He’s never going to be able to match Usyk in any aspect of speed or skill. His best bet is to try and land heavy shots. He has a good uppercut. He has to be aggressive try and win via KO. Heck even a wobble and a follow up flurry could get him a stoppage win somehow.
The scores were closer than they should have been in the first fight. I understand how if AJ does a bit better and Usyk a bit worse that precedent could somehow get AJ a win in Saudi especially.
It’s AJ’s mentality that needs to change. He needs to fight hard. He needs to push. He needs to surprise the judges. He dropped Ruiz and went after him like crazy, it was awesome. Problem is Ruiz took it all and came back to drop AJ. Now AJ is gun shy and fearful. That was one fight though. Joshua needs to just train, and whatever weight he is? That should be his weight.

That ultimately should be a heavyweights attitude to training.

Joshua since he has been obsessing over his weight, has actually gone backwards.

Joshua at 250 pounds vs Kiltschko, had greater endurance, durability and punching power than this current version.

Whenever Joshua gets in and around 240 pounds and under, everything goes backwards.

This is a statistical observation I have made. And it is always right.
