He was chosen for his bum leg and questionable draw last time out. If the guy was a legit competitor at 154 Garcia's crack daddy and Haymon would have gone another route. Smoke and mirrors. Surprised WBA don't put a belt up for this.

I agree that Benavidez was chosen bc of his leg and shoulda lost his last scrap. Every fighter has an off night. Benavidez is still solid and still hungry. The question is how much motivation does Garcia has left at his age, at this stage of his career and how effective he will be moving up in weight against guys who will most likely hold the size advantage over him (ik Benavidez was at 147 also so this fight will be tough to judge that). Should be good crossroads matchup with plenty on the line for both guys to lose.
