I didn't think that tis was much of a fight, not really worh watching, except that I'd watch any kind of boxing match. Mayweather had all the advantages going in to the fight. AND....something that nobody has mentioned, which is a 5 inch reach advantAGE. so it's quite normal for him to be able to jab away at Marquez, with very little able to reach him from Marquez.
I would hope that all talk about Chris John getting a "hometown" decision over Marquez, will now fade away, since we saw, last night, against Rocky Juarez, Jonn's highly skilled quality. Truthfully, John beat Marquez by a large margin, and Marquez actually lost his first fight with Manny, even though it was mistakenly scored as a draw.
And besides, I know that he was ranked #2 lb4lb but this was always, as far a I was concerned, badly skewed. When you have Marquez at #2, and someone like Hopkins, who was badly shown up by Calzaghe, at #3-4, well....you know that someone is just pulling the names out of a hat.
Why isn't at least one of the Klitschkos on that list? They are completely dominant in their divisions, probably more than any other fighter in any division. No opponent, no matter whom, wins more than a round or two in any fight.
They seem to be treated the same way as Ricardo Lopez, who retired undefeated in 2-3 divisions, winning 50 fights. He's always ignored when fighters of so-called genius are discussed.
Perhaps for his next fight, Mayweather will oppose a top class true welterweight...............for a change.
