If Rahman jr loses he will forever be a laughingstock. If he wins he can make a name that will command a bit more money for bunk fights. All the talking Rahman is doing tho…seems like a warning flag. Jake Paul hasn’t said much for a change so he’s probably taking it seriously.

Paul needed to make sure that he didn't have another person back out. If Rahman was too heavy there was too much of a chance he wouldn't make weight and there would be problems. Even weight-drained fighters have to drain themselves down to the contracted weight.

I would guarantee that any other 5-0 boxer would not accept a last minute fight with an opponent that is 12-1 and naturally bigger and stronger than them.
Except he’s never fought that low before as a pro. There’s no guarantee he could make that with a full camp without being a dead man walking, let alone short notice.

If Jnr wins... this catapults him in to stardom. Where he can potentially make$1mil or more in a rematch... and then even have logan come out should he win the rematch too.. this will work out very well for jnr financially if he can get the 1st win and then 2nd time around have a full camp and be better prepared.

More and more it’s obvious Paul should have canceled the Aug. 6 date when Tommy Fury was out as an opponent - rather than keeping it to fight a sour, petulant guy with no personality who keeps depressing the potential attendance and PPV figures with all his complaining and whining.

Paul would have been better off rescheduling the fight with Fury for sometime this fall in the UK; while he was over there he could have been on every UK network and sports show not only hyping up the Tommy Fury fight - just think of all the attention-getting run-ins with Tyson Fury that he would have had - but also hyping up possible fights with KSI and Conor McGregor. He could have even popped over to Ireland and walked into McGregor’s bar for some epic trolling.

Paul’s obviously a brilliant businessman, but he should have ignored all this “you gotta fight a real fighter” BS for a little while longer instead of wasting time on this turkey fight with Rahman Jr. that’s going to bomb at the box office and on PPV.

                    What a fu-cking idiot.

They called Rahman under the pretense of sparring because he had incentive to lie about his weight if he thought he was going to potentially be handed a huge opportunity, and whether he got the opportunity depended on the answer.

If he lied about his weight coming into sparring, he'd have just potentially been sent home and it would have only been a waste of his own time to not get paid.

It's a pretty smart angle IMO. Paul's team had a date coming up quick and didn't have another week to lose to some idiot lying about being 50lbs over the contracted weight a month out.
