  • Comments Thread For: Rahman Jr. Claims Team Paul Baited Him To Obtain Info Before Deal Offered

Hasim Rahman Jr. did not appreciate what he believed was subterfuge from members of Jake Paul's inner circle. The son of the heavyweight champion recently got the nod to face the popular YouTuber-turned-boxer in an eight-round cruiserweight bout on Aug. 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Showtime Pay-Per-View. Paul was originally set to face England's Tommy Fury, but Fury was dropped from the fight because he is unable to travel to the United States.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about weight for this fight. Jake's team wanted to make sure Rahman could realistically lose the weight to get down to Cruiser weight. If he was walking around at 240lb then they wouldn't have offered him the fight. I give Jake credit for this. I would guarantee that any other 5-0 boxer would not accept a last minute fight with an opponent that is 12-1 and naturally bigger and stronger than them.
buge buge Fact Fact like this.

Hopefully he's not a walking zombie like Chavez Jr against Canelo.

Yes just like what Pacquiao did to De la hoya. He was weight drained that he dam near couldn't climb into the ring through the ropes. LMMAO

I venture to say every fighter would accept those terms if they were getting paid like Paul or even Rahman. You really dont think a 5-0 fighter who was in camp already would accept several hundred thousand dollars to fight a guy coming off a KO loss not 6 months ago? Doesnt matter if he is bigger and more experienced.

Huh? This article is talking aboue pre-fight talk, Oscar was weight drained after training camp long after the fight was signed.

I don't think you get how boxing works.

"No way can we put our guy in with somebody who will be weight-drained, it would be unethical" said no boxing promoter ever.
