Promoters really need to find ways to promote fights that puts them in front of the eyes of non fans. Relentlessly buy ad space on places that aren’t already seen by fans. There’s gotta be ways to build up hype.

Fighters promote themselves by doing something to get fans attention. Anything. Something fresh, new, or they haven’t seen in a while.

The top 10 highest selling PPV’s of all time all involve at least 1 black fighter. There’s only 2 Mexican fighters in that list, both are only there due to Mayweather.

The top 5 highest selling PPV fighters right now are:

      Canelo
      AJ
      Wilder/Fury
      Spence

If these guys were 6.8" tall and 260 lbs. this fight would be drawing off the charts. The big HGW's always can get a draw because of their Goliath-like size, even when the skill levels are not in the ATG class.

I don't see a way Crawford and Spence can move the fight into a higher economic plateau, besides fighting Canelo. I'm sure they have a hard time believing it, but the general population and world at large just aren't drawn into them at that level.

If they can get $10 million for Spence and $8 million for Crawford, they better take it and fight. Place some percentages on any PPV numbers over 800 thousand. Call it a day and fight. Will be difficult to get guarantees much higher than that. They aren't record numbers but those are still good paydays. They may not like it but ...

Who are they going to fight and get more? Besides Canelo? The Saudi option?

I think many fights of the near future are gonna have to settle for less ... or end up fighting inferior opponents for even less. The bidding wars between DAZN and the rest of the boxing world is what caused these humongous pay expectations. Unless the bidding war heats back up ... purses are gonna probably shrink, back to where they line up better with ticket and TV sales.

It sure puts that $50 million Wilder offered AJ into perspective. When you can get that kind of money ... you better be snatching it and fighting.

if thurman has been moved to #1 WBC over ennis and ortiz, how are they Spence's mandatories? Spence fights Thurman, then, gets a voluntary, and lastly, he can all off any ibf mando if it is undisputed. He can easily push crawford back for 2 fights, well into 2023. How old is crawford then?

This does Spence Mikey numbers IMO. What was the last hardcore fight between relatively unpopular boxers that did well? Can't remember one.
I think this fight had more appeal than Wilder/ Fury 2. Most boxing fans felt Fury got robbed in the 1st fight and figured he’d win the rematch.

I think it will do more than Spence/Mikey for sure.

Bigger picture- boxing fans need to understand thongs are different now. A big fight isn’t going to draw Floyd, Tyson , ODH numbers.

The big numbers will likely only return when an American boxer that transcends the sport like they did blows up.

The ppv model is dead. Boxers are barely on TV these days and as such aren't household names and can't sell ppv

Why can't PBC host the fight? Or DAZN?

Are the fighters pricing themselves out?
