"You've never boxed!" is a ****** argument against criticism of a boxer.

I hate it when someone criticizes a boxer, and someone else replies with, "You've never boxed, so you have no right to criticize!". The idea that you need to have boxed to know whether someone is a good fighter or not is, quite frankly, ******. You don't need to be a gourmet chef to know whether someone's cooking is good or bad.

Sure. Anybody can judge whether something is tasty or not but only the chef knows what it takes to make that food.

It's a quick showstopper at times when you pull out that card lol. Have you ever boxed before? No? Then stfu!

No one cares about criticism of a boxer. People who have boxed take exception to the total disrespect of a pro boxer. The exaggerated hatred. That’s when your lack of boxing experience is open to attack.

For example, going around calling Ryan Garcia a fake boxer, while you never boxed yourself is, quite frankly, ******.

The context of your criticism is what matters.

It’s when the haters really start exaggerating with their critique.

Like man, for someone who has never boxed, you are talking a ton of sh/t about someone who actually gets in the ring.

Especially when they start talking crazy, with the personal insults because you don’t agree on a topic. That’s way worse than someone asking if you have ever boxed.

Nahhh, it's is a justified argument for some of the wild criticisms that casuals have

For example, i saw some casual call a fight rigged because the opponent wasn't throwing many punches in the latter rounds, and mostly covering up. Anyone who has boxed before knows how much stamina it takes. Casuals on the other hand think it's a norm to throw a hundred punches each round. In cases like these, it's safe to argue that these mfers have never boxed before and they have no idea what they're talking about lol

Depends on the context ,someone I noticed earlier was saying fortuna took a dive with that bodyshot knockdown...but if you had taken a shot like that before you'd know fortuna has some amount of balls and will to get back up

What's even worse is when they say ''That boxer would beat your ass, though !''

Like that would be an achievement

Some boxing fans take being a fan too personally

As if they have to defend another man's pride at all costs.

Every other sport or form of entertainment is fair game

Just can't be negatively critical of boxers !!!!

It solely depends on the criticism, some fans rave about ridiculous notions that if they boxed, they would know different and how naive what they are saying is.

What you're saying is a blanket statement that cannot apply to all, millions of people drive cars how many are capable of analyzing a F1 car as Schumaker is, there is so much inside workings that casuals don't know, but that doesn't stop them from forming strong opinions that are essentially wrong at its core.

If someone uses the 'you never boxed' argument shouldn't they then post their name and record?

Just saying you boxed doesn't mean much.

Worst yet what if you did box but really ****** at it? For all we know you might be Eric Crumble.

I think a fair rule would be, former boxers should be free to offer that argument (and hopefully new insights along with it) but first we need to know who you are and how good you were.

Or maybe just think about keeping your mouth shut.

                    Just my opinion.

P.S. Going to the gym two or three times for some 'white collar' boxing doesn't make you a boxer. It takes years of serious training.
