Comments Thread For: Derek Cardenas Cleared By Tennessee Commission To Face Jarrell Miller, July 23

Jarrell Miller has a confirmed opponent for his first fight in the U.S. in more than three years. The unbeaten heavyweight will face Tijuana's Derek Cardenas, who was medically cleared by the Tennessee Athletic Commission on Thursday and approved for a boxing license. The development was the last hurdle to clear for Miller (24-0-1, 20KOs) appearing as part of a July 23 show in the main ballroom of the Embassy Suites hotel in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

24-0 vs 8-9 probably wouldn't be allowed by a lot of commissions but I guess that's why it's happening in Tennessee.

What a selection, a bum from Tijuana who has been knocked out in his last 3 fights by nobodies we ever heard of. They probally got him for about $2500 and they know it's just to pad Miller record more than it is already due to the drugs being used in most if not all of them. They couldn't even find a fighter in the US due to payment I'm sure, boxing is sad but I fought the sanctioning bodies and leadership of the sport

Miller is a pathetic JOKE. Plenty of decent, top 100 HW's, Stateside, that he could be fighting.

Judging by his last fight the Jarrell Miller of the past is no more his stamina and endurance is non-existent that EPO is a hell of a drug.

He probably needs these bum fights to stay focused on getting in shape. Whatever.

I was a big fan but done with Miller, he ain’t accomplishing anything in boxing.

Well if he does fight once a month until the end of the year that will be 7 fights since June. I expect them to be low level after having near 4 years off but it will give him plenty of time to get work in the gym & some rounds in under the lights. Look to step up in 2023 if he gets in good enough shape. Obviously he needs to put in a lot of road work & stay clean…
