Reynoso's run this year is really not impressive. Valdez and Canelo got absolutely taken to school, and Reynoso didn't seem to have anything else once their gameplans failed in each case. I think we can forgive him Martinez since Chocolatito is one of those guys who often demonstrates that there's a difference between future first ballot HOF and average champion. But with a bunch of positive PED tests and then those kinds of results, the optics sure aren't good for Team Reynoso.

We'll see what Goosen can accomplish with Garcia. He's very flat footed, and has been compensating for the lack of defensive dimension in his game with hand speed. It's very hard to break that kind of habit, and worse, speed is one of those things that goes with age. Even if he does well over the next few years, if he doesn't improve his base skills, he's going to be one of those guys that goes from hero to zero basically overnight as he gets older, and gets knocked out by unranked guys. If you rely on speed and reflexes to avoid punches, when those start to fade, something you avoided by a fraction of a second will catch you. This one should be a decent fight to show if he's actually going to be able to hang with the top guys.

Was with Reynoso for four years (2018-2022), would be surprised that there be a dramatic improvement with defensive skills within a year with Joe Goosen. He doesn't need to be a defensive savant to compete at elite level in ryan's case, but he gets caught a lot.
