  • Comments Thread For: Ryan Garcia: Haney Doesn't Have Killer Instinct, He Will Feel It When He's In There With Me

Ryan Garcia stands by his criticism of what was otherwise hailed as Devin Haney's best win to date. The unbeaten 23-year-old contender immediately took to social medla in the midst of Haney (28-0, 15KOs) dominating Sydney's George Kambosos Jr. (20-1, 10KOs) to win the undisputed lightweight championship on the road in Melbourne, Australia. Garcia repeatedly referred to the June 4 ESPN main event as boring and with both fighters lacking a sense of urgency.

When Garcia vs Haney was first discussed, I would've picked Garcia to win. But in the 2 years since then, Haney has kicked on, improved, got important experience. Not sure if Garcia has really progressed in that time.

Hopefully Garcia is over his mental health issues now and will start backing up some of these statements by fighting all the top guys.

The things this guy comes out and says.. you'd swear he had the talent/record of Marco Antonio Barrera or Erik Morales.

Since Haney has all the titles, now only he gets called out.

If you think of highly talented legends of the past like Mike Tyson, no one really wanted to fight him, but once he had the titles, well, they had to.

To a lesser extent, a supremely slick Mayweather wasn't someone fighters were keen to face.

But there's always guys willing and able, like Holyfield and Douglas for Mike, and Oscar, Shane and Manny who were eager and fought Floyd.

Oh dear. I'm actually starting to feel sorry for this kid now. He's not right. He needs real help.

And yet, that 36 minutes of boredom was still way more exciting than 15 months of inactivity.
