This is Boxing's Mecca and everybody who loves and appreciates the granddaddy of combat sports should try to get here at least once in their lifetime.
It's always a good party.

I've been there several times before, it's a really interesting place with a lot of history. There's so much memorabilia to look at. Probably the most interesting thing I found were the busts/casts of notable heavyweight boxer's hands. Made out of some type of material, I forget. Some of the size of the hands on these guys is ridiculous when you see it in person. Going during the parade in the summer is a special thing, the one time I attended I was fortunate to witness at least a dozen if not more world championship boxers from a pretty close distance. The induction ceremony is also cool. Canastota is off a little exit about 20 minutes east of Syracuse, NY. Once you get off the highway the museum is directly to your right. I think there's also a restaraunt owned by some famous boxer directly across the street from the museum, never been.

It's surreal if you've never been. I'm a regular. The restaurant is Graziano's. Old timey place, terrific food, great prices. Sit down for a steak or some manicotti, and Carlos Palomino is seated on the left and Pipino Cuavas is seated on your right, and you're like "WTF. Why didn't you guys ever unify the Welterweight title while you could?", and they give you their take. It's like that all weekend during induction weekend. Over the years I have had the pleasure of meeting all the greats. I only wish I could've attended that kind of thing in the 1930s and 40s!!!
