The right man won, Opetaia piled up the points in the early and middle rounds, Breidis came back late but it wasn't enough.
For once the judges in Australia got it right.

I don't think Opetaia can get enough credit. He fought with a badly broken jaw and still pulled it out. Was close at the end, I think 7-5 was the right score. Heaps of potential with Opetaia, he was boxing like Usyk at times. 26 years of age, showed a world of maturity and will only get better (once his haw heels, he couldn't even talk at the end).

Opataia went thru hell to get the win no doubt, corner man said he got the jaw busted in the second round but by #12 that jaw was laying open one more solid bad hit and it might gotten knocked off. good show of will and never give in attitude. we all knew breidis had heart, its opetaia that shocked us, i thought he was going to lose bad and quit, he looked nervous during prefight pressers and the weigh in. He shocked me i thought he was another aussie hype job, he beat the best guy in the division too in his first title fight
