He went downhill immediately after the HW move.

A fighter's style is unique and works for that fighter until it doesn't.
Lesser men have been called ''boogeymen'' with much worse resumes.

Well for starters this "green" Hopkins you speak of was in his 24th fight and Roy was in his 22nd fight. Both guys were fighting for a vacant belt and were genuinely the top 2 contenders. I hear everyone on here complain about alphabet politics and phony belts, so not sure how you can undermine this win, that was a proper fight and probably one of the most difficult fights two young fighters have had to win a vacant belt in the past 40 years. It is a sensational win.

Hopkins did not lose for another 12 years.

Roy knocked down and shut out a HOFer in James Toney. Both of those are seriously high calibre wins.

I would say his resume is not the strongest considering he was p4p for so long, but the fact is none of the guys you speak of wanted to fight him, not really. They know what would happen, they would have got embarrassed like Toney did and for most of the guys you mentioned, it was more profitable for them to posture like they wanted to fight Roy then to actually fight him, get embarrassed on the big stage and lose all their stock.

You laugh at wins like Clinton Woods, but he was a more than solid fighter, and Roy embarrassed him. The manner of some of his victories matters

The downhill slide started after this fight. I'd need the current best 175s (Beterbiev and Bivol) to go up to Heavyweight (200-205) and fight Kownacki or Gerald Washington (don't really need them to fight a title holder b/c we know the current 2 holders would trash them). If they are successful in surviving 12 rounds, they will down immediately and fight a good up-and-coming puncher at 175 immediately after the cut, not working their way back down. Then we can get an idea of what that move to heavyweight did to Jones, especially his punch resistance bc he was taking shots before he went up.
