Mikey may just have needed a big name to get motivated again. But then again, he might just be done with it altogether regardless of big name opportunities.Comment

he was ok but nothing special.
needed a size advantage which he had at 135, once he moved up and his opponents weighed the same on fight night but were taller, had more range, he was toast. A lot like Ricky Hatton, once he couldnt make 140 anymore, he was useless at 147+
A lot of guys once they reach the peak have trouble dealing with the idea that they are on the downward decline. Hes 34 he could still fight he would just not be matched against the best anymore. He will probably come back in 2 years and then now youre fighting at 36. IDK he might blow up in weight too and stay permanently retired.Comment

He should have never jumped to 147 that killed his career more than the layoff.
Think of all the great matchups we would have had if he didn't jump up in weight!Comment

Mikey and his approach to boxing, outgrew 135. For those that say he should've stayed for Loma, they just don't know Mikey and his approach. He wasn't a fitness guru. He just came to fight and whoop dat azz. I agree that 147 was too much for him. Probably should've settled in at 140. But you don't know until you know. With an undefeated record you feel invincible. If he KO'd Spence we'd be talking about an all time great fighter. That didn't happen. Instead, his career stalled for multiple reasons. I LOVE the career path. I'd try it as well if I was him. He found out he wasn't good enough to accomplish that. And he gets out without taking a lot of beatings. No shame in that. Best fighter ever? Of course not. But very few are. His life goals and accomplishments have far surpassed mine. I can't hate on the man. Enjoy retirement champ!Comment

Good not great fighter…thought much less of Mikey when he settled for a decision win after he chose not to continue against Salido with a broken nose. Countless warriors have continued to fight with broken noses, orbital bones, hands. And appeared content to lose a decision to Spence. Basically got that huge ppv payday and called it a day.Comment

Yes he couldn't keep moving up in weight with his small frame and style. Should have stayed at lightweight. But he's made more than enough money to retire on.Comment
