He was ranked #1 by Ring in the second fight, so 2 out of the 3 he was ranked #1 or Champion. Regardless, Wilder clearly wasn’t protected. He fought a lot of scrubs early on cause he needed to develop, Wilder was very raw as an amateur he wasn’t anywhere near as polished as Fury, AJ, Joyce etc. Not saying his resume is top notch or anything but he clearly wasn’t protected when he got to title level.

If AJ won he’d be a 3x world title holder.
He would be. But right now he hasn't. That's kinda why I said 2 time lol.

        Sure you were… :lo1:

Kinda feels like you forgot AJ was already 2x.

Frank would “fancy him against anyone” conveniently forgetting his other heavyweight, who previously broke Dubois’s face…

Joshua is extremely limited but I still believe he stops Dubois at this stage. (Not that it’ll ever happen)

Wilder deserves respect in the game for sure, he’s no bum (as people refer to him on here), he started boxing late, he’s an Olympic bronze medalist and had 10 title defences. His resumé isn’t great but his team did a good job with him, up until not fighting Joshua for the undisputed title. I would have picked Joshua over him at the time. He’s exciting to watch and good for the heavyweight division, I hope he comes back.

Ring magazine is owned by Golden Boy (or was) and at the time when Canelo was promoted by them he was still ranked the number 1 middleweight in their rankings (before the first fight with Golovkin), even after he refused to fight Golovkin and chucked the WBC title as they tried to enforce the mandatory. Basically a long winded explanation as to why the Ring Magazine ratings are meaningless! Ha! Fury come back after 2 years after failing a drugs test and having issues within himself, had retired and had fought nobody of note in between the 1st and 2nd fights. He was the guy who beat the guy (Klitschko) but after the issues stated he wasn’t the true number 1 at that time.

Ddd is the type of fighter I want to see him in ring with someone who can punch with highlight ko reels like ddd himself has.
DDD v josh/flip/wilder/ruiz id like them all and I'm sure ddd would also

Frank just throws anything out there at this point. AJ is vulnerable but so is DDD, and DDD is slower and less experienced with (unlike vs most of his opponents) no advantage in size, strength and power.

Now, Joyce on the other hand? stylistically I could see him being a problem for Joshua, and DDD could probably trouble Whyte, but I dont see DDD beating AJ.

Fury had essentially already beaten Wilder though by the time of the second fight. I think the vast majority of us feel he won the first fight. I personally considered him #1 before the Wilder rematch. Ring had him #1, TBRB had him #2 only behind Wilder himself.
