I also remember a lot of people picked Canelo to beat Mayweather, so there’s that.

Canelo barely beat Lara. Underperformed. He was getting outboxed by Khan before Khan got clipped.

Most people thought GGG beat Canelo the first time around. He had Canelo boxing scared off the back foot. Regardless, was a close fight.

Anyone who picked GGG to steamroll Canelo, clearly had a bias against Canelo.

Please. Canelo’s underperformed in many of his biggest fights just as much if not more than GGG has in his.

GGG has much better chance than people think stop lying.
He really doesn’t. Have you seen his recent fights? He’s clearly past prime. He will not be anywhere near the GGG we saw in the first fight.

Mayweather was favored over Canelo and anyone who knew even 1% about boxing predicted Mayweather would win. The “lot” of people picking Canelo, were just the same people who said Mayweather was ducking Canelo and wouldn’t dare fight him at 150lbs. Now they are the same fans talking about Canelo was drained at 152lbs.

My prediction for Canelo vs Lara was that Lara would win. I was wrong. Who ever thought Canelo “underperformed” vs Lara, knows very little about styles. No boxer will ever look good vs Lara. Hence why big name fighters ducked him. GGG and Andrade both straight up turned down Lara. Canelo fought him because his critics were accusing him of ducking him. No one ever said Canelo is going to look amazing vs Lara. So no, he did not “underperformed.”

Well that was the boxingscene consensus. GGG was favored to beat Canelo and, GGG hypebeasts were claiming GGG is going to KO the ginger in 6 rounds or less. With many of them citing Canelo getting hurt vs Jose Cotto. So, no, GGG didn’t “push Canelo to the limits” it was the other way around. Canelo was the one who fought surprisingly well and GGG underperformed.

GGG was outlanding every opponent in power punches in every round before KO’ing them. Versus Canelo in the first fight, he outlanded Canelo in power punches in only 6 rounds, with no knock downs, and never even hurting Canelo. He did even worse in the rematch, being outlanded in the power punch category in 9 of 12 rounds, 143 to 116 total.

He went on to look even worse vs Derevyanchenko. Getting outlanded in the power punch category in 11 of 12 rounds and 183 to 136 total, and still somehow getting the decision.

You can overlook GGG’s performances in the rematch and Derevyanchenko fight, in discussions, just to talk. Just don’t bet on him, you will lose money. I guarantee you that.

Never said I was going to bet on GGG and I’m not even suggesting that GGG will win. In fact, I predict Canelo to win a comfortable decision, but Canelo, very rarely steamrolls his opponents at the top level. It seems like people are predicting a steamroll type of performance and I’m not one of them.

I’m saying that, given where they’re at now and given their past history in the ring together, GGG absolutely has better than a 10% chance. That much is crystal clear. Age and recent performances doesn’t matter as much as previous ring history together and styles do here.

He will remain competitive in most rds. He might not win rds, but Canelo’s going to respect him enough, given their past history together.

We’ll see what happens come fight night. Should be a decent bout.

Winning an official decision is different from winning in reality though

Who ever scored it 10-12 rounds for Bivol is clearly biased against Canelo. I am sure Mayweather critics all go around saying most observers had Castillo beating Mayweather 10 rounds to 2. That doesn’t make it true, but if someone did have it that way, clearly, they were biased against Mayweather.
Had it 9-3 Bivol. Fight wasnt close or competitive

Yeah jabs don't count when it's your favorite fighter on the receiving end. This power punch obsession is a joke. By definition a power punch is anything other than a jab. Whether they carry real power is irrelevant.

The fact that in the rematch, GGG was in a position to “mount a comeback” further shows that GGG’s chances vs Canelo were 100% overrated.

I mean go look at 2015-2017 threads. This guy was supposed to KO the Ginger in 6 rounds or less. Now he is getting points for “pushing” Canelo and “mounting a comeback”.

Lol. How the mighty have fallen.
Canelo did terrible in the first fight but he didn't get stopped. I give him that. He did better in the rematch but he still lost. He has two unearned results against Golovkin, a draw and a win.

Clear victory for Bivol. Canelo was hitting arms and getting frustrated when Bivol didn't panic and fold. He looked lost in there. Next time if they ever fight Bivol knocks him out or stops him on cuts.
