    Couldn't put it better myself.

Besides, Smith Jr had used his boxing skills previously - against Alvarez especially - and they worked. I'm not saying he would have beaten Beterbiev, but he surely denied himself his lone chance of survival.

He didn't react well to being hurt.He says so himself that he lost focus on their gameplan. Smith has a lot of confidence in his chin so getting hurt rattled him and made him panic

Not fair to put him in the same breath of the guys you mentioned because there atg fighters and not many guys would beat them two of them retired undefeated. Toney was a light heavyweight for less then a year and spinks was also undefeated as a light heavyweight
Yeah Smith is a good fight. Zurdo too, there’s a few guys hovering around contender level that are interchangeable for good matchups. Light heavy is seeming to stall again outside of Bivol/Beterbiev, guys are just hovering for a title shot.

You could see he was going to get knocked out early before the knockdown though

good fighter Smith. Tough as old boots. He's just in a division with a couple of absolute monsters no shame in that.

Smiths limitations as a fighter were exposed in this fight, as other posters have said you don't fight a big puncher square on, I also feel that this is no longer his weight category, Smith will have success at a higher weight.

I like Smith but yah, he got clobbered. He also clobbered an old Bernard Hopkins so what goes around comes around. He is still a warrior and I hope he will have some more fights.

I could actually see he was going to get knocked out before the start of round 1.

Indeed. But let's not forget he won the vacant belt fighting Vlasof ...who lost to Glowacky.

He felt the power and like so many before him , had no answer for it
Joe has over accomplished in the sport , no knock to him
And to be totally honest , they are not even on close levels
Most people thought Beterbiev by ko and that’s exactly what happened
Bookies had it 5 to 1 for a reason
