Why didn't he let Marquez know the ground rules, and when did he decided to break them.

Did Mayweather ever actually intend to make the weight? Did he get midway through camp and decide to force Marquez to take a low-six-figure payoff in order to preserve the show, knowing full and well that the Mexican wouldn't dare walk away from his career-high contractual $2 million purse, in addition to whatever additional stipend Mayweather had to pay?

When it came to the test weigh-in 10 days before the fight, and Mayweather weighed in at 152 before a commission official, is that when he decided that making 144 wasn't even necessary?

Or was it long before then?

Regardless, this kind of thing never is good for the sport of boxing.

He never signed a contract with 144 on it and even if you checked all interviews you will notice. The NAC can and should not act on heresay
To insist on weighing 147 at any point against a 130-pound man betrays, once again, just how much Mayweather is afraid of a challenge.

The best case scenario for Mayweather, he "couldn't" make the weight, and then he's unprofessional. Marquez has every right to demand a penalty.

          Who said that?

If you read it again, I said Evander Holyfield. He repeats a long history of boxers who became poor post-boxing.

If Floyd isn't careful, he would be one.

The operative word is "fraudulent," and is unfortunately 100% correct. No matter what stories, excuses, etc. come out in the future about this mystifying weight issue, they are almost certainly going to be smokescreens. It is a shell game, plain and simple.

It's a shame most of the so-called boxing press, who got harangue over, don't have your sense of desire to set the record straight.

Floyd hasn't fought as low as 147 for many years. He's skinny but it's all muscle which actually weighs more than fat.

he should be penalized to a torture room with a chair in the middle... tied down to the chair from head to toe. the chair would have a hole in the middle .. and beneath the chair would be a drilling steel sword that weighs exactly 4 more pounds than he does.

Mayweather's contract with 147 pounds was not filed with the commission until minutes before the weigh-in. Kizer said it was supposed to be filed on Wednesday.

Kizer said the Mayweather camp asked to file it Thursday and he said OK, but that deadline also came and went.

"We were very unhappy with the lateness of Mr. Mayweather's contract," Kizer said.

Kizer said that had the bout agreements not been changed to 147, Mayweather would have faced a fine from the commission in addition to whatever penalty he had agreed to pay Marquez. For being two pounds overweight, Kizer said the penalty would have been 10 percent of his purse, or $1 million. Had he been three pounds over (147 pounds), the figure would have jumped to a 20 percent fine.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighed in at 146 pounds on Friday afternoon, two pounds heavier than the weight stipulated in the contract for his comeback fight against lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
