You do know that ward wanted to retire after the 1st kovalev fight, right? He then saw kovalev talking crazy and wanted to shut him down, which he did, and kovalev never looked the same since. Ward has stated and hinted numerous times that he wanted to retire young while he was at the top. The man has been retired for a while, but people are still salty because he beat your fave fighters. Right now, he has been out of the game for a while, so it's pointless to discuss matches.
Andre Co-Ward retired to avoid facing Beterbiev and Bivol

Ward would have schooled beterbiev back when he retired
There was no money in that fight as neither were a draw
Kovalev was the biggest payday ward could have made on his way out at the time
He wanted to retire
What was beter back then 10 and 0? Or something ******
He may have had amateur credentials but ward would have got zero recognition for beating beter or bivol back then
People going crazy because beter beat
Joe "the peoples bum" smith
Bivol will dominate beter with easeLast edited by Stuntman Mike; 06-19-2022, 04:55 AM.Comment

Ward got zero credit from his critics for winning the Super 6, beating prime undefeated Kovalev, prime once-beaten Kessler, prime undefeated Froch, prime Abraham, and prime Dawson.
Ward, without even being a big puncher, was the first to KO both Kovalev and Dawson.
No one but Calzaghe won as many or more rounds over Kessler, than Ward did. Calzaghe, who beat Kessler 116-112 in 12 rounds, won 8 rounds. Ward beat Kessler 98-92 in an 11th rd TD, that’s also 8 rounds, but only 10 rounds were scored.
Please, no one would believe you critics would have given Ward any credit for beating Beterbiev and Bivol. That’s BS. And he retired due to injuries not due to whatever euro fighter’s d/ck wanna suck.Comment

“Real fighters”?
Some of you fans are so pathetic. Andre Ward was so great at his job, of fighting, that he made millions of dollars off of it.
Please show us the millions of dollars you have made in your profession. What are you great at? Nothing.Comment

Kovalev beat ward 116-111 and everytime I see ward on TV he looks like a broken man to me, he hopefully has sleepless nights over that disgraceful robbery.
He was a scumbag against a depressed and alcoholic kovalev in the rematch but i respect that more than lying about thinking he won the first fight, he was desperate to win at any cost that he didn't mind cheating, two truly disgusting performances from ward, he ruined a man's life, kovalev has never recovered.Comment

Ward would had beat them both and they would said that they were inexperienced. Then they would had said that he avoided Yarde, Smith, etc.
There is always that one guy that a fighter did not face...Comment

I will only say this. We have a rugby league player over here who has made more money boxing in a dozen fights than Ward made in his entire boxing career.Comment

Ward was a good fighter but he had some injury problems and against Kovalev he looked a little fragile at times. I can't blame him for retiring, Beterbiev and Bivol were not big names at that point (though people who watched them could see their talent).
Ward was clever though, he could see that he was declining a little as a fighter and from the looks of things he was aware of the fighters coming up behind him (in particular he was aware of Bivol and has often given him high praise over the years). No shame in quitting while he is ahead, he has success in the ring, money and he didn't take any serious beatings that could effect him later on in life. A great way to go out imo. Let the poor guy rest and enjoy retirementComment
