Beterbiev won fair nothing dirty. Joe was ducking his head that’s why the punches landed where they did. He tried blocking punches with the side of his head and punching with beterbiev. Artur was much faster and landed everything tho. Just a really poor fight IQ by smith. It’s weird because he’s had fights where he has fought with really good ring IQ. I don’t know if he felt it was only shot to go for it right off the bat or what but it was the worst performance of his career

        He felt King Artur’s power
He crumble just like the 17 previous fighters
Beterbiev has a very high ring iq
It wasn’t a guess to circle to Joe’s left

Instead he crowded a much shorter fighter negating his reach advantage and allowing beterbiev to land shots at will. Was the dumbest fight he could’ve fought. Winging heymakers from left field is never smart. As I said he has a great jab and right hand he just needed to work those and back beterbiev up make it to the late rounds and see what happens. Easier said than done but that’s the fight to fight. Marcus Browne was executing it but he didn’t have to power to keep artur off himself smith had the the right tools but the wrong gameplan. Bivol vs beterbiev will be a great fight. I think bivol due to his ring IQ but that is a close fight
I partly agree with you but it very much is easier said than done. Gvozdyk, similar level of world class technician as Bivol tried your gameplan but got dismantled slowly.

I think Smith thought he can't outbox him or keep him off him for 12 rounds, he's seen better skilled and longer (Gvozdyk) try and fail that way. So he chose to try and hurt Beterbiev in the opening rounds. It just didn't work. Artur landed the first power shot that clipped the top of Joe's head after about 20 secs into the fight. That was key.

Wow. Joe looked like he had mentally surrendered after the second knockdown. Throwing looping overhand rights while still wobbly. The writing was over the wall: inevitable KO.

Credit to Beterbiev for being the first stop Joe and continuing his 100% KO streak.

With Canelo going after GGG in September, I think Bivol/Beterbiev looks enormously intriguing given the contrasting styles. I would love to see that!

                Didn’t hear big Joe complaining
                Only the couch boxers complaining
Not Artur’s fault Joe decided to catch all shots with the back of his head
And honestly speaking , there wasn’t that many to say
Let’s discuss how Joe ate those two big uppercuts that had him feeling funky
He was doing the funky chicken dance

Smith was a 9-1, even 11-1 dog in some circles. I bet 50$ full well knowing that Beterbiev was the more skilled guy. You win some, you lose some. I did well with Bivol over Canelo, De Carolis over Scardina, and Lucas Browne over Fa. I also lost on Bryan against Dubois. I try to find "live" dogs and Smith was one of them. The outcomes are irelevant. You go with the information that you have going in and then make a decision. Beterbiev has been rocked by guys with far less power than Smith. A small bet on Joe with long odds was worth it!

I thought beterbiev was gonna win but I had him by decision or late stoppage. Lost a pretty penny. It happens. I like joe smith tho I didn’t want to see him go out like that. He’s had some great underdog performances and has always had a chin of Steele. If he could’ve have takin it to the championship rounds I firmly believe he would’ve been in the fight with his power. Gvodzyk and Marcus Browne don’t have the punch power or punch resistance smith does. He tried to drop him early like callum smith with a lucky punch. Why they thought that was the way to go I can only assume they really thought his power would carry him through this fight. They were right and wrong. Joes power was part of the equation but patience and boxing iq were the other part and they were not present

                      Well put
But I firmly am a believer that trying to strike early was his only chance
I also lost some coin thinking Joe was tougher than that
I had Beterbiev to win by ko between the 4th to the 6th
