    Is Chris Eubank Sr over-hyped?

I see a lot of his son's detractors say he's ridden daddy's coat-tails, but I'm not seeing much of a coat-tail for him to ride on.

Not a single good win outside of Benn (who I don't really rate that high because he was so dirty), unless you consider Rocchigiani which I don't.

24-0 Eubank in 1990 and you got mw's like Nunn, Jackson, Kalambay, McCallum, and even Duran floating around and this guy is fighting domestic cans smh.

Eubank moves to smw in 91, still fighting stiffs. You got guys like Nunn, Liles, Barkley, Toney, RJJ. A Vinny Pazienza fight could have done good over in the US, he was extremely popular. But Eubank was complacent fighting local stiff after stiff.

Seems to me he was extremely over-hyped.

Overhyped but his right with make you go nighty night, nicer than a hot day and cool can of sprite or a pint? Anything but Bud lite, you buy and I’ll provide the lucky strikes, London for life

          Micheal Watson
          Ray Close x2
          Dan Schommer
          Thulani Malinga

Could argue he lost all of the above.

He struggled with Tony Thornton aswell.

Quite a poor resume really, didn't really beat anyone of any real note outside of Benn and Watson.

Overrated definitely. Wasn’t really a true world champion tbh. Still much better than Jr though.

Eubank was massive for British boxing, he along with Benn made the sport as mainstream as it’s ever been in the UK in the last few decades. As a fighter though he was good but not great.

Wow, never even heard of those guys. No wonder why nobody wants to fight in the UK.

Chris Eubank Senior made 18 defenses of his World title '18 defenses'.

When War came looking for Chris Eubank Senior, that was when he turned up.

Anybody who has witnessed his career, cannot deny that he was a warrior of the highest order.

Eubank Senior gave Joe Calzaghe his toughest fight, Calzaghe has admitted this

Eubank Senior had a great career, and no bad loses in my opinion. To get a win against him, took everything out of his opponents.

I don't think you have watched his career, it is easy to just look through his record and discredit him.

I rate Eubank Senior as greater British Fighter than Tyson Fury. Without a doubt he was a greater Champion.

I'm a bit biased as watching eubank with my dad was a great part of my childhood, was devastated when he lost to Collins.

Watson and Benn were great fights and great wins, he was never the same after the Watson fight, killer instinct had gone which was understandable.

Maybe overrated but I was a huge fan, shame he didn't fight the big name Americans but I still enjoyed his career.

He started pretty late in the game around 17 years old and turning pro at 19 he over achieved for what he was really

the guy had a cast iron chin, was reportedly really strong (mentioned a few times by fighters in the best I have faced ring magazine series) but he knew his limitations and was honest about them

after the Watson fight when he crippled Watson he lost his killer instinct and looked to get the most money out of boxing he could with the least toughest fights hence his 'Sky Sports World Tour' beating up cab drivers all over the world.fighting Toney or Jones, Gman Jackson etc wasn't really on his agenda

For what he was he had a great career, found the perfect nemesis in Benn to grow his name had a gimmick of being the villain and goes down in british boxing as a good domestic fighter but in world terms he doesnt really stand with the best from his era
