its more than just Vic Ortiz...also guys like Alexander Alexeev and Beibut Shumenov have been upset in alphabet belt title fights against guys they were favored to beat. their opponents werent awful, but they were limited. not real cream of the crop, you know?

and then Rigondeux is pretty old for his weight class already. older than all the guys listed above on age alone. they can lose and come back...Rigondeux may not be able to pull that off.

who knows? Guess we'll just have to wait and see how he does when steps up against higher class opponents

the only guy that could have pulled off the upset tonight was that Santos guy from Puerto Rico, now THAT guy was game, and could have pulled off an upset against the right opponent.

eh, maybe Im just a hater...but I dont think Rigondeux is THAT amazing. he can counterpunch well, but thats mostly it.
If a worthwhile fighter could force the fight on the inside, I think they could beat him up.
and he is pretty old to make a huge mark on the division. I can see him winning an alphabet belt, but I dont think hes going to go much farther...
Thats exactly what a counter puncher wants, a guy being aggressive and getting in his face. More punches thrown=opponent more exposed=more counters
