Win or Lose, Debts Will Force 'Money” to Fight On

When you hear it (and read it as the documents are in the public record) from the IRS then it is truth. They don't mess around. This has nothing to do with his boxing abilities, but everything to do with the fact that the man is a liar. He heaped it upon himself. He could have just kept quiet and simply answered no comment instead of screaming that he is the richest athlete in the world.Comment

im still hoping for a marquez upset...but the chances now is much slimmer than yesterday...Comment

i think marquez if he could have, should have backed out of the fight, mayweather now has even more of an advantage,i mean he only shed one pound, thats it,he's four pounds heavier and i really think he did that on purpose because he wanted to have all the advantages he could have,or just not work off the extra weight,...once again floyd carefully choosing his opponents,he should have gone after berto or shane instead of a lightweight.Comment

Hardly! The most he's ever weighed on fight night is 150lb, against De La Hoya. In his Welterweight fights he weighed 147 or 148lb on fight night. He doesn't dehydrate and rehydrate himself like most other boxers do, his weigh-in weight and fight night weight are usually pretty much the same.Comment

Keep in mind that's 5m to the IRS. 200k or so for the Maybach. 10k+ for the lawyers that are suing him. 600k+ (from what I heard) in penalties for being 2lbs oer weight limit. And THEN, whatever is left after that is still 1. taxed by the IRS as new federal/state income (I'm assuming high paying athletes like that get taxed what like 40-50%?) and the obligatory 20-30% that goes to the trainer, manager, promoters, etc. So when all said and done I'd be surprised if Floyd makes a single penny off this fight. It will depend on how well the PPV does but I wouldn't be surprised if he 1. makes only a million or two if not LESS or 2. straight up LOSES money.Comment

Mayweathers inability to manage his money will force him to to fight past his prime. He can easily come back and make 30 million plus in 3 or 4 fights. But it wont matter since he is unable to change his lifestyle. He will find himself facing the same situation two years after his next retirement. Next thing you know is that he will be 40 years old being knocked out by people who are no where near his skill level. Then some will question just how great he was when a younger fighter is able to easily outclass him. This will more then likely end badly. i.e. Roy Jones, Joe Louis, Ali, Mike Tyson, etc.Comment

So as I said in my previous post if Floyd owes 5million of his paycheck now, well then out of that 15mill he might get paid, he will owe another 40-50% of that to the IRS for THAT fight's federal/state taxable income so total the IRS will end up taking probably about 12-14million of that 15million paycheck. Then he owes 600k in penalties for the weight fiasco and 200k for the car, 10k+ for the lawyers etc and you can see how quickly that paycheck from this fight will be completely negated. And if he makes more than 15mill (depending on PPV buys) then more of that will be taxable by the IRS so they will take even more. This is the same thing that happened to Joe Louis and he was never able to catch up to his taxes because the more he made the more he owed and it ended up swallowing him up whole in the end. Luckily for Mayweather, IF he's able to beat JMM and Pacquaio beats Cotto, he has a guaranteed record breaking hit for his next fight where he can make another 30million like he did against DLH so his prospects DO look good IF he wins.Comment
