400 amateur fights and amateur world champion. Highest knockout percentage of any world champion. Not elite. Err Ok. Listen to what other fighters say about him. Listen to what Bivol says about him. Almost exactly what I see. His balance is excellent. His use of lateral movement isn’t Pacquiao but his feet are deceptively quick and economic which sums up his style a lot. Wastes little. I don’t think you watch him carefully enough or if you do you don’t fully understand what you’re looking at. He’s always on balance, that’s where his power comes from. Some fighters do take one to land a harder one. Duran, Hagler to name a couple. I think his knockout percentage suggests he usually wins those types of battles so why fix what ain’t broke. I’ll be surprised if Smith see round 8.

Not sure if this true but I heard against Caminero that it was a really bad break. Like his jaw was just dangling off his face...
Yeah, (technically 3x) but breaking his jaw only makes him tougher. The first time he got it busted (in two spots) early against Caminero he couldn't take the pain and had to quit. The second time he took the pain for 8 rds and lost a UD to Barrera. He'll probably get it busted in the 1st round against Beterbiev, but he'll laugh it off and win by KO this time.

I said he’s not an elite BOXER. He’s a world-class fighter and champion for a reason but it’s not because of his elite boxing abilities. He’s a good technician with excellent power and an excellent chin and physical strength, but watch him fight. He takes way too many clean shots to the mouth for anyone to call him an elite boxer. No fighter is great at everything so my comments are not meant to disparage him as a fighter. He’s clearly an excellent fighter.

Yeah this was the fight he had to quit on his stool due to severe pain and a double jaw fracture. It might have been exaggerated what I had originally heard but I did read an article today saying it was double fractured jaw: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-were-the-sameComment

Well, to be fair, Smith almost stopped bivol too.... when he caught him at the end of one of those rounds.Comment

at 37 this might be Beterbiev's last year or could this actually be his last fight? of course he's favored but sometimes old boxers age in the ring instead outside. this fight will certainly tell us his status & if he could possibly beat Bivol...Comment
