Comments Thread For: Garcia Will Ensure Joshua Takes Advantage of Physical Gifts in Usyk Rematch
Robert Garcia, the new trainer for Anthony Joshua, was not in agreement with the implemented strategy for last September's fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

AJ realized very early on that Usyk has the power to hurt him, and was hesitant from that point forward in the first fight. If he walks straight in like he did against Ruiz, he'll get ko'd again. Let's call it what it is; He's got a weak chin.
It’s the only way he’ll be able to beat Usyk. I expect lots of clinching and pushing down on Usyks head every time he gets close to AJ, won’t be pretty but it will definitely have an effect down the stretch
He'll do the bike thing again like he did with Ruiz. All this mumbo jumbo about using his natural gifts is smoke and mirrors.
Idk, I personally think Joshua needs to throw everything with bad intent. Make Usyk hesitant on angling into 1. Sorta how Teo did to Loma. Swing the left hook hard. Even if he misses, Usyk will think twice about angling that way and it gives Joshua a chance to land a right.
I love how Grandpa came right out and said Joshua got the wrong instruction from McCrackhead, because it was so obvious from watching him fight Usyk. I said Joshua should have left that trainer YEARS ago. Having said all that, idk if even a great trainer like Grandpa can help AJ beat Usyk. Usyk is too skilled for AJ. When AJ tries to impose his size, Usyk is just gonna turn him this way and that way, keeping him one step behind. And he's gonna crack AJ harder this time. To a lot of fighters, AJ's size and power eventually overwhelms them. But to a guy with Usyk's ability and skill, AJ probably just resembles a big, slow punching bag with arms that u have to avoid once in awhile, because AJ gasses out and doesn't have the greatest workrate. Keep in mind Usyk is also working just as hard, and will be improved from his last fight. So what's that going to look like?

Just feels like he's going to gas if he does that, know what I mean?
I would have to go back and look at the Teo.Loma fight because I don't remember anything specific Teo was doing that made Loma non. Not saying he didn't, just saying I don't remember.

Oh for sure he'd end up throwing himself out but I think it's his best chance. Usyks style is a nightmare for fundamental 1-2, 1-2-3, fighters.
And in the first and second rd Teo threw threw some big lefts at Lomas body and thats why Loma wasnt trying to go in. Teo did get tired though and thats when Loma started to land. Risky but the gameplan worked out.
