That's lesson one mate and if you cant get that down to protect your chin, go get another trainer because I'm not training you to be ko'd.
He’s essentially a brawler without a chin or gas tank.

He’s too stiff and telegraphed to land with any consistency at range. He looks like he pushes his shots out. I.e no snap

When he gets hurt he loses all his energy

From his first fight I thought ‘this guy doesn’t move with any fluidity in the ring, he’s not a natural boxer’

Tbh he’s overachieved massively which is largely due to his exceptional work ethic.

In fairness to him he is a world class buzz saw when in range and when his opponent is hurt, but yeah he lacks many natural tools, he made a terrible decision with staying with Robert Mcracken for his entire development years as Rob is an ABC of boxing trainer who uses a very outdated, upright, basic style.

That's ingrained in Joshua now and he will always go back to it when things don't go his way.

His mid-range combos, hooks and uppercuts are real nice.

He has very good power too.

        Solid fundamental

Joshua technique, and conditioning has gone completely backwards since Ruiz 1. Not after that fight, but during.

Before that fight, I don't think all these things you are saying especially with his punch technique were present.

I agree with the pushing of his punches, Joshua jab can be very passive. It is as if he just want to reach out and touch his opponent.

Instead of trying to ram the punch through the target, he has a very poor jab for a Super Heavyweight. Sometimes it can be good, but most of the time it is very passive 'Shades of David Price'.

I am aware that Joshua lacks fluidity, and is not natural boxer. You can feel and see him thinking in there. Like dancer trying to learn dance moves.

Even with all these concerns, I still think Joshua will beat Usyk in the rematch. Joshua does have raw athletic ability, and his work ethic is near psychopathic.

Joshua has a underrated ability to absorb information and learn. Becoming a Olympic Champion, after only boxing for 2-3 years is not normal.

            I hope you’re right

I can just see AJ with that panicked look on his face after taking a few flush straight lefts in round 1.

I’m not sure if he still has the fire in his belly to take punches to land his own etc

People say this like its that simple and easy. The more aggressive he is the more open he will be and the quicker he runs out of gas. Usyk isnt just standing still and not hitting back ffs, hes on the move, making AJ miss and making him pay for those misses.

Not really. People are just saying what they think his strategy should be. Nobody is saying it will be easy or guarantee victory. If you were his coach, what would you advise AJ to do in the rematch?

There is no clear winning strategy for him, hes facing someone who is just outright better by a decent margin, we are essentially in hoping for a Hail Mary territory. Most of the "he needs to brawl more" etc etc stuff makes it seem like its AJs fight to lose, like its in his hands and he just threw it away with the wrong strategy the first time.

So what fight tactics would you advise Joshua to employ?

Easier said than done. Usyk isn't going to be training in his fridge like Ruiz did. He's too smart for AJ. Do we seriously think Usyk will not anticipate Joshua coming in more aggressive and not have a plan.
