Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: I Hope Charlo Grows Some Balls, Tells Management Team 'I Want To Fight Munguia'

Oscar De La Hoya is sticking to his version of the truth of why Jaime Munguia's next fight is against anyone other than Jermall Charlo. As has been reported at length, the anticipated WBC middleweight title fight was agreed upon by both boxers only to fall apart over a network dispute. Showtime was prepared to carry the event as part of its spring and early summer schedule, only for Golden Boy Promotions and Zanfer Boxing--Munguia's co-promoters--to insist that DAZN be involved in the fight.

Of course that's what Oscar wants. Gets him some money.

Reality is, there's nothing there to fight Munguia and Jermall just got injured, so his current fight is already postponed.

A better fight would be to tell Andrade to put his money where his mouth is and fight Munguia. That way Munguia can get a title and then leverage that to unify with Jermall.

I noticed they said Munguia is fighting Kelly at super middleweight.

Can he still make middleweight? Anyway, respect to anyone who gets in that ring to rumble. It's just that there's no real interest in seeing Munguia vs Kelly, and Charlo vs Sulecki.

Well, if this past weekend reminded us of anything, when a fighter really wants a fight, they're willing to do WHATEVER to get it. Not only did Haney deal with multiple distractions, but to have a rematch clause built in to go BACK TO AUSTRALIA again if he won to defend the title goes to show the length of desire that Haney had. At this point, in my book, both Munguia/GBP and Charlo/PBC/Haymon are to blame and are clearly scared to fight each other for different reasons. Mungauia because why fight any real stern competition if there are more Demetrius Ballard/Jim Kellly's around. Charlo is clearly looking for a bigger profile fighter/bigger payday after that last scrap with Montiel went further and harder than anyone recognized. Hope this trend of fighters like Shakur and Haney continues in which going beyond just saying they want to fight the best, but actually FIGHTING THE BEST continues.

I could have sworn that the last article we read about Charlo vs Mungia stated that everything was agreed upon and at the last minute, Fishnets said that DAZN had to be involved, even though Showtime was footing the entire bill. Now all of a sudden, Charlo is showing no balls. Sounds to me like the junkie (Oscar) needs to grow some balls and put DAZN in their place. WTF!

Charlo is the A-side so Def ShowTime would have the broadcast rights. Dazn don't carry any weight
DLH should tell Dazn to take a back seat

WTH does Oscar's quest for cash have to do with Charlo growing a pair? This was strictly on management, the fighters were ready.

Unrelated: but man Munguia vs David Benavidez would be an all out Mexican war for as long as it lasts. I’d pick David obviously but man those styles would just mesh so well

Munguia himself said Charlo and his team agreed to the fight and all the terms, problem was DAZN.
