Paraphrasing Kev and others, Gervonta has many styles.

He wouldn't be moving from Haney with his glass chin. Davis can fight dirty if Haney starts hugging. He knows how to use his head too in a dirty fight, with a lot of hugging. I've seen him in too many sparring, with bigger, dirty guys.

Davis moved from Rolly because Rolly was a strong bull with a punch. Goal was to tire him after the 3rd round. Haney isn't that strong at all compared to Davis. Davis will fight Haney like he did Gamboa. Some of the punches from that fight, I can still hear in my head. One of my favorite Davis fights.

From what I have seen of both, Tank knocks out Haney mid to late in the fight. I voted Tank bc I believe he will eventually get an uppercut or body shot when Huggie tries to grab him.

I'm right there with you on that evaluation of Haney.

But he does have good hand speed and his size will play a factor. However, it's mainly that Haney has no desire to risk it. He'll comfortably box like a Klitschko behind the jab and if anyone gets close, he'll grab. Every round.

From my view, I don't see Haney ever opening up or getting into exchanges with Tank unless Tank pressures for it. Like Linares did and wound up wobbling Haney.

So, Tank will have to reach or welcome a lot of free jabs (like how he did pre-knockout of Leo Cruz) in order to do what you said, let his hands go on the inside. In my opinion.

I can picture the scenario you are describing. But I also keep in mind that Wladimir Klitschko had a devastating right hand to follow up his very strong, powerful jab. It was very difficult to get through Wlad’s jab because that hammer was right there waiting for those who avoid the clinch.

Haney doesn’t have that strong right hand Wlad had. And he doesn’t have that versatility, that mixing of punches like Ward had. And he doesn’t have that slickness of Hopkins when he would clinch his opponent and throw short, hard right hands and left hooks in close quarters.

All Haney does is jab, clinch, hold on til the ref breaks it up, and repeat for 12 rounds. He doesn’t even use the jab to setup anything, and doesn’t use the clinch to do anything other than wait for the ref.

I think GGG would be a good trainer against Haney's style. That guy perfected the head under chin technique to get out of hugs in violent situations. GGG hasn't needed to use those dirty tactics given the styles of the people he was fighting. I think he has perfected it for Andre Ward.

I've actually seen GGG train name pros on how to get out clinches with a hugger, head under chin. I wish I could find that video. Maybe Gervonta can watch that video of GGG in addition to what he can already do.

Nah. Kambosos is a bum and knows nothing about how to cut off the ring. Davis is an artist at that. Don't forget Haney will be facing one of the best body punchers in boxing. All those armaments are still there, and only used when needed. Kryptonite for Haney's style.

In a clean fight, with a good ref who doesn’t tolerate all that hugging, Tank eventually catches Haney and destroys him. Haney has a very, very suspect chin. I didn’t like his reactions from Kambosos clean power shots on him. And obviously the way he reacted to Linares, who’s not necessarily a KO artist.

Haney chose to “fight” Diaz because Diaz is a light puncher and an easy target, with good grit and determination. But Haney was scared of Kambosos for some reason, who isn’t a big puncher.

But tbh, Haney could be unbeatable if he will always be allowed to clinch and hold every other second of every round for 12 rounds. I mean how can you beat a guy who just jabs and clinches? In order to beat Haney, with a soft ass ref who doesn’t warn or anything, you’re going to need to practice way more than just boxing. To beat Haney, you need to practice wrestling. Legitimately. You need to practice maneuvering out of holds. Unfortunately, that should be the refs job but it looks like that’s just a tactic that boxers will need to learn how to stop it themselves.
