Gatti offered $2.5m to fight Witter in England

Talks have started between Mick Hennesay and Gatti's people for the WBC title fight.

Hennessy confirmed he is trying to lure Gatti to England with a $2.5m offer to fight in Nottingham. "I would love it to be in England but there is also television to consider so we are prepared to be reasonable and if necessary go to the States."

This would be a big payday for Gatti to fight in England.

No title fight will be taking place for Gatti if he doesnt fight Mayweather. If Gatti doesnt fight Mayweather he gets stripped, its simple as that and the WBC is enforcing it heavily (about god damn time we get something from them that isnt corrupt)

Top Rank has ensured the Gatti camp that if it goes to a purse bid they will be bidding a whopping 9 MILLION DOLLARS, If you are not familar with the rules of a bid. The champion receives 75% of the purse and the challenger 25%.

Arum has guaranteed Gatti that if the 9 million bid is placed he will receive $5 MILLION his highest to date, even higher than what he earned against the Golden Boy. Plus Gatti/Main events would receive a percentage of the ticket gate and ppv sales. Mayweather would be rumored to make around 2.5-3 million dollars.

Gatti has the chance to receive almost 6 million dollars from this fight. He would be ****** to play games...Mayweather and Arum supposedly came to an agreement and now its up to the Gatti camp. Although Main events is making excuses that nothing has been seen yet from Mayweathers side.

This is the most lucrative fight for Gatti, it is one hell of an ass beating he will receive from Mayweather but I mean its more than 5 million dollars.

The money is laid out...Hell I would sign it.

Last time I checked 5 million wasn't 75% of 9 million. **** Mayweather, Gatti doesn't need that piece of **** to make money. Nor does he need a belt, the boxing public will pay to see him fight anyone. He's a crowd pleaser....hence he makes his own rules.

5 million isnt something to squal about, especially considering Gatti's passed purses. 5 million dollars is a ****load of change for a fighter today, you dont see those paydays everyday.

Unless Gatti fights low tier guys at 140, he is going to get his ass handed to him by any of the top level guys. He might as well go out and make the most bank. He wouldnt make nearly as much fighting Vivian or any other 140 champion....5 million would be his fattest payday in his career...He wont get that ANYWHERE else.

Imagine if Gatti WINS against Mayweather?

5+ million, and a win over the best fighter today.

hard to believe, but its possible.

Shouldn't Gatti be making 6.75 mil? If the champion get 75% of the 9 million, then Gatti should get that, considering 6.75 is 75% of 9.

You are right. Maybe Arum meant that Gatti would get $5M after fees and such. His share would be about $6.5M but then you have taxes, fees, and expenses. Those things come out of the purse bid so the $9M would be for the whole fight, not just for the fighters. The fighters split what is left after promotion costs, taxes, ect. (if I'm not mistaken).

So, if the purse bid takes place as the WBC has said it would (tomorrow, Friday) then we might get to see this fight after all.

Getting to the topic, I'd love to see Gatti-Witter, too. It would be a very exciting fight.

Why should Gatti takes on Witter in his backyard? There are a lot of opponents out there who could be much more interesting.

Witter would most likely out box Gatti over 12 rounds, this would be a ****** fight for the Gatti people to take. i`d go after an opponent like N`Dou or Ben Tackie, prolong that title reign guys, until the really big pay day comes.
