  • Comments Thread For: Derek Chisora-Kubrat Pulev Rematch Set, July 9 At The O2

Derek Chisora finally has an opponent--and a familiar face, to boot--for a long-targeted July date. The veteran heavyweight trialhorse is set to rematch Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev in a battle of former title challengers set for July 9 at The O2 in London. The bout will headline a DAZN Show that was formally announced by Matchroom Boxing on Tuesday.

Total Carnage? What, like the last time they fought and I shook myself awake on the sofa at 3am?

It was a pretty bland event as I recall. I think the Pulev and Teper fights were some of the most lethargic I've seen Del Boy.

Don't like this matchup for Dereck. Pulev has a decent enough chin and skills to avoid getting sparked, his jab and stand-off style will be enough to edge him rounds without generating excitement.

The only thing to cling on to is that this version, this rejuvenated Del Boy turned up AFTER he fought Pulev so he might come in with a bit more intent this time fingers crossed.

That fight was poor. And it wasn't as close imo as the cards suggest, and some people seemed to make out. Pulev won easily. And I say that as a fan of Del boy. But I believe this is going to be different. In the past Chisora has been a hit and miss in terms of motivation. I don't think he was truly motivated in that fight. It was for the European title, which he had already won. A couple of fights later he fought Kabayel for it again, and it was the same story. But he was different in the Takam fight. And from then on it seems like something has changed in Del boy. He's been way more motivated, and has been ( win or lose) much more up for all his fights ( except the Gashi fight ) and it's produced much better performances, and entertainment for the fans. Whilst I think he wants to win, I just think he wants to go to WAR. I think this Pulev fight will deliver. Pulev is just about earning now, so he needs to bring some WAR also.

Don Charles always said in interviews Del struggled with motivation an awful lot in the past. I'm just about with you on this one I think a motivated Del Boy will turn up this time and pull a decent performance out the bag to keep his run on prime time going. Mad indian summer for this guy if you think the amount of times he's looked done. you mention that Kabayel fight in monaco I thought he was done then, that was 5 years ago!!! mental

This, the only way i can see Del winning is by drawing Pulev into a war.

Pulev seems to enjoy a fight tho so i could see it happening.

Del Boy will lose again. Maybe Matchroom can make Whyte-Pulev after this.

I’m ok with this fight. A couple solid aging HWs who won’t get near a title shot.
