Yup. They did. But I don't recall any of them abusing the cinch like Haney. And I'll have to go back and look to see if they were clinching or tying up. Two different things.

No! This ERA needs to improve their Inside Fighting/Dirty Boxing and actually Refs need to GTFO of the way and stop saving them from having to FIGHT OUT!

I go a bit back so I do remember Ray Leonard trying to clinch Duran in Canada and Duran absolutely worked Ray Leonard Over on the inside, then again Duran is one of the greatest Dirty Boxing/Inside Fighters of all times!

Kambosos and Haney was BOTH was Clinching and was looking over to the ref to come and break because Neither has a inside game. One thing Haney will need to improve on is his inside game, not going to be able to Clinch a Tank or Loma both have the quickness and Footwork to Match and can fight on the inside. So either they will sidestep his Clinch Attempts or let him and rip him to the body on the inside

Clinching goes all the way back to Jack Johnson ERA and the Refs would get out of the way and let the Fighters Fight Out

Clinching was allowed back then because the rules were different. Wrestling was still a part of the sport. But if you're going to do that, then you can't have the referee separate you. You have to wrestle. That's old school.

Watch Hopkins or Hatton. They clinch but they still throw and fight. It's not just hugging.

Illegalize a clinch seems too excessive since boxers do need to recuperate if they were hit clean flush.

Too bad that now in days if boxers get hit with a big shot, they don't take a knee which would be beneficial throughout the fight since instead of getting battered they be taking a breather, it is better than having the referee stop the fight.
