Comments Thread For: Hearn Would 'Love' for Buatsi to Face Bivol in the Fall Despite Trainer's Comments

It's now or never for Joshua Buatsi as it pertains to fighting for a world title, according to his promoter. Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, which promotes the 29-year-old light heavyweight contender, believes Buatsi has nowhere else to go but to compete for a world title at this point.

Eddie Hearn is being greedy. Hunter knows what’s best for his fighter.

I’m a Buatsi fan, haters will say “he’s 29, if he’s not ready now he’ll never be ready.” Look, nobody is saying there should be a ten fight development plan. He’s had 16 pro fights, only the last one was truly at world title level. He’s almost there, 1-3 fights/6 months - 2 years depending on what he shows. He beat Richards by a similar margin to what Bivol did, he just isn’t quite there…….

Buatsi has been living on Eddys farm too long. I guess Eddy has run out of patience and feed. Buatsi is no better now than he was 5 years ago.

Eddie Hearn is doing his job (steering his fighters toward money and championships), but he will be criticized no matter what he does. Buatsi has to understand that opportunities to make money and achieve greatness are few and fleeting in boxing. I doubt many fans would put any money on Buatsi to beat Bivol, but I don't think he's a betting favorite over any other elite LHW fighter or champion either. I do think fighters have to take risks to become great. This is a huge opportunity for Buatsi if Bivol accepts Hearns offer. He should take it.

The trainer who understands boxing or the promoter who doesn’t. I know who I’d listen to…

                    Win win for Matchroom.

If Bivol wins, they still have the Canelo rematch.

If Buatsi wins there's two fights there for Canelo as well as a Bivol/Buatsi rematch.

Works out well for Matchroom whatever happens.

Ftr, I think Buasti is a live dog. I don't think he wins but he will give Bivol some problems I'm sure.

The question really is... Why would Bivol want to fight Buatsi? Gotta offer big money.
